Manor House at Tanglewood Park

About Manor House at Tanglewood Park
The Manor House Bed and Breakfast isn't your typical golf hotel or resort, but its location inside the 1,100-acre Tanglewood Park does have its advantages. It's within a mile of Tanglewood Park's 45 holes of golf, including the Championship Course, host of the 1974 PGA Championship won by Lee Trevino. The Victorian era manor dating to 1859 has been completely restored. All the rooms include their own private baths and period furniture and decor. Golfers can also stay at the cottage, guesthouse and apartment. Park amenities feature an aquatic center, horse stables, tennis courts and more.Facts

Tricky Course
Like the course the greens were just aerated so greens were a bit slower a and bumpy overall enjoyable time the course does get a bit wet after rain drainage issues .good value will continue to play both courses
Practing Social Distancing
Great day to be outside playing a solo round.
Greens Plugged!
Golfnow is usually good at alerting you about aerated greens, but didn't today! I've played this course a lot over the years and love it. Just want you to know they plugged this week.
You have to do this maintenance and we were OK with it..makes the greens better for later in the spring.
Old School feel
Our foursome was able to walk and keep up with the twosome in front of us. Great layout. Terrific greens. Highly recommend.
Rough and Scruffy - but Hey! For $7.50? Why not?
This scruffy par 3 course is located in a very scenic public multipurpose park with a variety of activities including horseback riding, swimming pool, paddle boats, and 2 prestigious, well kept golf courses. The par 3 definitely is not one of them, though. Driving range looks nice and staff friendly, but the course itself looks tired and neglected. The tees are AstroTurf mats, which are getting threadbare and matted, and the putting greens are the worst that I’ve ever seen (although I did play in March). There was some major tree removal recently and several areas were a muddy mess. It is VERY open regarding the layout, and a little hard to know where the next tee will be. Lots of kids and parents, which is perfect for this venue - holes are all about 90 yards or less (there is nothing ‘executive’ about it) with a little water from nearby Lake Mallard (where the paddle boat rental is). People, especially the kids, were having fun (for the price of a bucket of balls) and there are a lot of very new and comfortable park benches everywhere. I will try it again this summer - for $7.50, why not?
Due to the coronavirus situation, I was not able to play this day.
Due to the coronavirus situation, I was not able to play this day. The course staff willingly cancelled the times on the morning of the tee times.
Excellent course
Loved it. Really great layout. Greens in excellent shape.
Beautiful place
Best course around for the money. The entire park is beautiful
Good greens and pace of play
Early spring round and the course was in good shape considering the amount of rain we have had this year. Greens were good shape. Played in under four hours on a Saturday, always a positive. Look forward to playing again in a couple of months when the Bermuda grass comes to life.
Great course
Where else in the world can you play the site of a major championship (1974 pga championship) and was a regular stop on champions tour.? Crazy cheap Pryce!
Reynolds Course Has A Unique Set of Challenges
Our group of guys enjoy playing Reynolds and the landscape it presents. It’s fairways are tight and force you to hit more calculated drives. There are shots you can make that seem to be impossible sometimes. As in the undulating hills, turns, trees, hazards jump out at times. Others you carve out a soring drive that makes it over through or around an obstacle. Only to still have an uphill trick shot left. It takes a few rounds but it really starts to grow on you!
Good course
My dad and I both have played here before and once again we were not disappointed. Good course for the price.
Challenging
Course is in good condition bunkers and greens redone. Staff is friendly and layout of the course is both challenging and enjoyable.
Great Layout, Winter Conditions
Having played this course before, this round only confirmed my belief that this is one of the best layouts in the Triad if not all of North Carolina, and especially for the price. The course was in decent shape for the time of year. The fairways were somewhat overseeded although it was thin in some places. The new bunkers are excellent but you can tell it gets a lot of public play because in the afternoon, there are a lot of footprints from golfers who have not raked the bunkers. The greens roll smooth but my only complaint there is that they use the same three hole locations all winter, just rotating between them and because the grass is dormant the areas around the hole gets pretty worn down and fast from all of the traffic. Overall this is an excellent golf course that I am sure will be even better once the grass starts coming back out.
