Great track!
I guess all the golf courses in the Pinehurst area are great, but this one is definitely worth playing. The course itself isn't extremely tough, but the greens make up for any perceived "easy holes". Lots of undulation. They had over seeded on 11-5, so it was cart path, but this means it will be in gorgeous shape in a month or so.
One of the better layouts...
Challenging course, lots of different shots required. Practice your sand shots before you play here - you will land in a few fairway/greenside bunkers. Greens were in pretty good shape - more break than what there appears to be. Greens are large, so pay attention to pin location when hitting approach shots. Pace of play was good, even though we did not see a marshall or a cart person. Great price on range balls - $3! Not an $80 or $90 course ( very few are in my opinion ), but if you can get on for less than $50, it is worth it.
Great course to play
Course was in excellent condition and very enjoyable to play.
Excellent layout. Good test of golf
This is a hidden gem. Initially appears as a residential course, but most holes are isolated and very challenging and aesthetically beautiful.
A must play for the price.
Great Day at Talamore
Our group played an outstanding course for an unbelievable price and even though the course ate us up , we are ready for a rematch. Everything about our day was outstanding.
Golf Now Golfers Treated like Scum
First - The condition of the golf course was first rate and had an impressive club house and a good driving range.
Second - The golf club only allowed golf carts on 10 holes. Four Par 4's were off-limits to all golf carts at ALL Times as they had a small fence preventing carts from gaining access to the fairways. All the Par 4 holes that did not allow carts were dry and flat and did not appear to have any issue with wet surfaces or worn fairways. The 14th hole in particular was annoying as the cart part was high up in the woods on the right side of the fairway and required a steep hill to traverse down and back up.
Third - Some fairways, for no reason, had rough in the middle of the fairways. These included landing areas on the several holes and on one par 5 had pockets of rough that were just sitting in the middle of the fairway and could not be seen when hitting second shots on the par 5.
Fourth - The staff was rude and uncompromising in tee times. No one was playing the course, but the pro would not allow our foursome to go out early. There was a twosome behind us that also had to wait and they did not even offer them a chance to go out before us.
Obviously, this was a once in a lifetime experience at Talamore Golf Resort for the four of us seniors who were as old as 67.
They had no intention of making sure that we had a fun and enjoyable golfing experience. There are too many other golf courses in the Pinehurst area that treat golfers with respect and do everything they can, within reason, to help them have a great time on their golf course.
Great course, in very good shape
Had an absolute blast playing this course. It has been 2+ yrs since I last played Talamore, and it was just I remember and expected...GREAT course, in great shape. Even with us getting hit with a ton of rain recently, this course was still in great shape and provided a fun time. I will return again if I can get another deal ($25) on GolfNow.
some interesting holes.
with a bit of attention to the grounds, this could be a really fun course to play.
Really?
So the first thing I am told when I arrive by the starter is how they strongly dislike golf now tee times. So this review will be short:
Very rude staff, golf course design is pretty nice... typical Rees Jones. Needs some attention. A lot of the greens are in pretty rough shape.
A lot of the holes run out of fairway, so if you have never played here you will find a lot of well struck drives end up in the rough between the fairways. Not at all a long course.
I can't really say much more other that I wouldn't play here again, just because of the staff.
Enjoyed the round.
Overall a very good day on the course. Greens were a little tricky but fair. First cut of rough was wide and very deep. Some drives went just in the fringe and the ball disappeared from view. Lost 1 ball completely. On 18 while putting I noticed a young man cleaning my clubs and this may be a customary thing, but I wish he would have asked first without feeling obligated to tip for services not needed. Still I had fun.
Slow green
Soft and slow green was disappointed.
The courses are interested with up and down.
Tough course
Moderate speed green, but course is very tough.
Not different Pinehurst with good mean.
Decent course but needs a bit of attention
The starter was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made for a nice start to our day. We were disappointed with the condition of the roughs - many we very high and those that were mowed had all the grass scraps sitting there still, which made it difficult to find our ball. Greens were fair.
Just a unbelievable great deal. Great layout ... upscale.
Played Talamore on 9/6 for an unbelievable Golfnow rate of $21. The greens were punched a week or two before, but rolling well. Just a great layout, no two holes were the same. Fantasic contours to the fairways. A challenge but not unfair. Unique feature is not OB ... free drop from any residential area. I've played most of the upscale courses in the Pinehurst area ... this is a must play for your next visit.
Nice Course, Played quickly, Had just been aerated
The course had a nice layout. The staff were very nice and gave me a great deal on the course. That was because they had just aerated it. The green's, fairways, and tee boxes were pretty rough. I played with my wife and she shot the best score of her life on this course. I would like to play the course again when the course was in better condition. We did play fast because there weren't many people on the course because of the aeration.
Excellent Choice adn Great Value for the Money
The course was in tip top shape as it usually is. The course played at just under four hours with 90 degree cart rule even with lots of rain recently. The fairways were in great shape as was the greens, but rolled a little slower than I remembered. I will go back and play this course again and again!
enjoyable golf course
This is a very pleasant and enjoyable golf course that is usually in good condition with very good greens
The course has a great hole layout.
The 18 hole layout and scenery is great, however, the tee boxes and greens are substandard for a supposed quality course. Also, there are a number of holes that are cart path only and it slows down play if you happen to be on the wrong side of the path. The llamas pen on the 14th or 15th tee box is interesting and quite a sight.
A Nice Golf Day
Great Course, Great Layout & Challenging Holes & in Great Shape!
The course is beautiful and challenging.
Beautiful course and after you get past the 1st hole it becomees a lot more enjoyable. The length of the first hole was very intimidating.
Stay in Naples, Florida. It sounds to me like you have been in the sun too long
