The Country Club of Whispering Pines
About The Country Club of Whispering Pines
The Country Club of Whispering Pines falls under the radar of most golfers traveling to Pinehurst. Its 36 holes by Ellis Maples are just minutes from the village. The longer Pines Course is an "inland links", while the River Course requires more accuracy. Guests can stay in condo suites or in a standard hotel-style room with access to a fitness center, tennis courts, outdoor pool and clubhouse with a restaurant and meeting facilities.Facts

Not Worth $68.71
First off, I've played the course in a much better condition than what it used to be before playing April 20, 2024. I was told, you should only pay 45 or so dollars to play, I had to pay $68.71 and it was not worth the amount I paid for. The holes had grass growing over the edge and inside of every single one of them, greens had patches all over it to include a bunker that I understand was being fixed, but nothing was said in the clubhouse prior to going out. Was just not happy for the price I had to pay for. I asked for a receipt and the cashier could not figure out how the system had worked to get it for me. I had people waiting behind me so I told the young lady to not worry about it. The course was in much better shape before, it hence why I wanted to play there, but going to take a break from them for awhile until they get it back to normal. Just disappointed overall.
Lousy Condition
Course in Poor Shape...Bunkers not Raked... Little to NO Sand...Tee Boxes Barren...Greens were decent..Much Neglect on the Course..Needs LOTS of Work..Play Elsewhere
Nice place but not aging well
I've played the pines course several times but not in the past year. After the new greens were installed it was in great shape and a pleasure to play. It WAS one of the better deals in the Sandhills.
Not sure what happened but the greens were not cut and didn't look very healthy. Champion Bermuda greens shouldn't be like this especially in the summer. Now the rates were only $25 but this course is better than that.
Great place to play
The staff was great, got us out without an issue, and the course was great considering it’s the end of winter. Greens were in good shape and accepted balls well. I recommend this course.
Bang for your buck!
Always enjoy playing Whispering Pines. Great selection of different types of holes. Greens are now great. Bunkers excellent. Never go wrong with this course!
Don’t play in the winter
Pine Course layout is confusing as it’s not well marked. Bunkers were filled with debris and grass was unkempt and dead.
Great Layout
Extremely enjoyable layout with a great variety of holes. excellent pace of play and great staff....
Great course
Tough long course. Swallow your pride and play from Sr tees unless you drive it 250 yards
Very enjoyable golf course
This is by far one of the hidden gems in the Pineapple area. Rates are excellent and the River course is in great shape. The layout can be very challenging but also fun from the forward tees. I will definitely be back!!
Good value
Enjoyed the course. Price was fair. Pace of play a little slow, but we were a three-some so expected to wait some. Greens in great condition and fairways very nice. Lunch in the restaurant after the round was very good.
Would go back if in the area.
Worth it.
Good condition and great price. Challenging enough to make it worth the visit
As always Whispering Pines Pines Course was in Excellent Condition. Very Friendly and Helpful Staff in the Club House. Course was Very Busy and with a 10:28 Tee Time we made it around the course in 4:15 minutes. Which is Great in a Holiday weekend. Play here if you have a chance!!
River Course Review
Course was in good shape. Greens were a bit on the slow side and if rolled would have been awesome.
Great course
Great course to play.
Shot a 75 from the tips.
Only two fairways were mildly wet.
Greens were rolling pretty well.
10 hole Snack shop had blue motorcycles!!!
Range was not to bad, hitting from the top of a hill.
Staff was very friendly.
Pace of play was perfect.
Good Course but lacking amenities
The pines course was in great shape. The fairways and greens were some of the best I have played this season. But as the heat of the day set in the greens got pretty fast. The biggest complaint is that for a CC with 2 courses there was no real food or drink options, only a mini fridge with some pastries. And that at the turn you are no where near the clubhouse to get anything even if you wanted too.
Great course
The river course was a fun challenge. The greens and fairways were in great shape and it was quick and easy to get a last minute tee-time.
Best course for the bucks,.
Love the two courses. Play quality golf in 4 1/2 houts. In gtreat shape for the summer. Make sure it’s on your to play when NC
