The Country Club of Whispering Pines
About The Country Club of Whispering Pines
The Country Club of Whispering Pines falls under the radar of most golfers traveling to Pinehurst. Its 36 holes by Ellis Maples are just minutes from the village. The longer Pines Course is an "inland links", while the River Course requires more accuracy. Guests can stay in condo suites or in a standard hotel-style room with access to a fitness center, tennis courts, outdoor pool and clubhouse with a restaurant and meeting facilities.Facts

Classic old school course
What fun course to play! Some of the trickiest greens I've ever played and they were in great condition. It's definitely a course you need to play a few times before you start scoring low. Conditions of the fairways and rough were a little tight and hard but the greens were top notch. It's a true throw back course with some great holes. I definatley would play again.
Challenging course
A challenging course. Highly recommend Whispering Pines! We played the Pines Course this time but the River Course is equally awesome!
Greens are way past replacement due date. No ranger and one group had entire course backed up.
Fantastic value
Played on golf now discount. Fair layout, reasonable condion tee to green. Excellent greens. Great Pinehurst area value
A funny thing happened on the way to....
I've played this course dozens of times over the last 25 years. It's always been a nice course, not special. The fairways and greens are always in good shape but this course tends to stay wet for a few days after heavy rain. Of all the courses in the area I rate it a "C+." Monday I took some friends there for the first time and they were blown away by the beauty of the course, the layout and the conditions. Sometimes its nice to see something through new eyes. We had a great day and definitely recommend you give it a try!
Just average
2 groups of 5 some holding up play couple bad spots in the greens that were just redone. Bunkers need some sand and not rocky dirt glad I got a hot deal. No starter so they sent me out as single.
Great example of North Carolina golf courses
Everything went well. Golf Course is a very strategic layout and fun to play. Staff were very helpful in regard to tee times Etc. Greens were better than I expected.
Scenic great price
A very good example of a non Pinehurst Golf Course in the Pinehurst area that is an excellent organ and shows a good example of what Pinehurst golf courses are. We played in the winter so the fairways word dormant so I obviously they were not that great but the greens were unexpectedly smooth and the layout was very scenic. Staff went out of their way to help.
Very enjoyable course to play
I found the course difficult enough to challenge the better player but not too difficult for the average player. Not much water. Greens were in great condition but difficult to read. A very enjoyable course to play.
Outstanding
Played pines course. Easy and fun layout, not much trouble at all except a good number of bunkers, which were well manicured. Greens were in great shape, especially for January. I'm a 4 handicap and my dad is a 15, was challenging enough for me and fun for him. Staff was very friendly.
In good shape for this time of year. I started as a single but paired up with another single and had a great time. Greens rolled very nicely. Great value on the GolfNow hot deal.
Great experience with great greens
Our 3-some has a great time on this Whispering Pines course. We played 18 holes in 3.5 hours and loved the greens
Whispering Pines West Course (River)
I had played this course many years ago but did not fully recollect it until the 7th hole a long uphill par 5 that I couldn't reach the top of the hill then and did not today either. Course layout is a little tight off the tees visually but has some room in the fairways. Front nine and back nine are similar except the back nine has water in play on 5 holes. Conditions were good today, greens rolled well, bunkers were nice. Recommend this course and there is also a East course.
Horrendous pace of play
Great November day weather wise teed off at 12:25 and finished at 5:25. Waited on every single shot. Three foursomes of buddies in front of us fell way off the pace, no chance of letting us play through. No marshal in sight. Pace took away from the fact that it was a pretty decent track.
Whispering Pines
We came to Pinehearst for the weekend. Found this course on GolfNow. Great course and great value. We will definitely play it again.
Forget Pinehurst - Play Here
Pinehurst #6 was asking $210, and it looked gorgeous but we werent up for that. So we looked on golfnow and found this gem. FUN course. Plenty of challenge but not unfair. We played Pinehurst #1 the day before, and honestly, we had more fun here. Squeeze it into your Pinehurst trip, you wont regret it!!
