The Country Club of Whispering Pines
About The Country Club of Whispering Pines
The Country Club of Whispering Pines falls under the radar of most golfers traveling to Pinehurst. Its 36 holes by Ellis Maples are just minutes from the village. The longer Pines Course is an "inland links", while the River Course requires more accuracy. Guests can stay in condo suites or in a standard hotel-style room with access to a fitness center, tennis courts, outdoor pool and clubhouse with a restaurant and meeting facilities.Facts

enjoyed the course
Course was in very good shape; bermuda greens were excellent. Is a fair golf test. Will play it again.
Great local course
Very nice local course, some nice challenging holes. Pace of play was excellent even with State tournament event. Value excellent for Pinehurst area.
A surprise that was good
Arrived at the course and hit balls, not a particularly nice range, but at the first tee we forgot all about it. The course was a gem of a layout and in very good condition. I was able to shoot my hdcp. but only because I played the shorter tees. Overall a great day.
An absolute great course all around. Greens were perfect and the rest of the course is in good shape as well.
Nice!!
Nice golf course. Both courses are challenging, however the Pines is the best
Fun Course
Greens were firm and fast and required an accurate shot to hold. Greens and fairways were in good condition. Pine needles off the fairways sometimes gave you a chance to recover from a bad drive. Some long and interesting par 5s. Most par 3s were short irons. Overall, a fun course that I'd like to play again.
Fun Course
Greens were pretty firm and fast, and often required an accurate approach shot to hold. Fairways were in good condition. Pine needles off the fairways often gave you a chance to recover from a bad drive, although making par may be difficult. Bunkers had plenty of sand. Several interesting long 5s. Most par 3s were short irons. Overall, was a fun course with good greens that I'd like to play again.
Fun course
Course was pretty and fun. The layout was not to difficult but was a challenge for a high handicapper. The greens needed a little work but beside that we were pleased and will play here again.
Solid
Everything is in good shape, excellent for the money!
Fun but challenging
Played the Pines Course on a Sunday morning. Had a 9:15 tee time as a twosome. Asked if we could go off a little early since we were ready and not a soul on the first hole , tee box or putting green. Was told they were booked solid and we would have to wait until our time . So , as we wait, a foursome finally goes to the first tee , then a threesome , and then my time. So , needless to say , we pretty much waited on every shot for nine holes, until we asked the threesome to let us play through as they were all looking for balls. Other than that....,a fun round
Good Course
I enjoyed this course. It has a good mix of challenge - dog legs, sand, water. Got a good rate on Golf 18 Sandhills. I have played both 18's and enjoyed the experience on each.
Free Istate
Sand traps need lots of attention. Greens rough and hairy. Fairways descent. This is a $25.00--$30.00 course.
Decent Course
The layout is nothing special, decent shape, greens were a little furry, but to be expected with a mid afternoon tee off. Pace of play was brutal since I got behind a group of guys who thought they were qualifying for the PGA tour... After playing here, I understand why it was only 18 bucks on a weekend when everywhere else was packed due to the amazing weather conditions. I would probably pass if I only had this course to choose from again...
RIVER COURSE, WHISPERING PINES
I played the Pines course the week prior and enjoyed it very much, so decided I would play the River course. The greens had been recently punched so they were a bit slow and bumpy, but are coming back nicely. This is a fairly short course. I enjoyed the front nine but really liked the back 9. The course was great fun to play. I purchased my tee time on Golf Now. recommend it.

Played in afternoon so course was not crowded. Course in good shape. Greens were excellent, very quick. Good value for the money. Staff is always excellent.
Does the job
Good course. Long. Was hitting everything I had all day long. Can be hilly. Course design flows with the land very well. Greens are turtled a bit and are difficult to hold. They are not too fast and have a good roll. Putts go straighter than they appear.
Two par 5's on the course are demonic. Truly difficult, long, challenging, creations of sadism. Still, even though it's tough to score on them, they are majestic to see.
Needs more amenities and culture around the clubhouse. Has the feel of a real regulars course. Older crowd. But, don't be fooled, they play fast.
Nice course
The course is in great shape. The greens are perfect but firm. Had a very enjoyable round. Will definitely play again when in the area.
