The Country Club of Whispering Pines
About The Country Club of Whispering Pines
The Country Club of Whispering Pines falls under the radar of most golfers traveling to Pinehurst. Its 36 holes by Ellis Maples are just minutes from the village. The longer Pines Course is an "inland links", while the River Course requires more accuracy. Guests can stay in condo suites or in a standard hotel-style room with access to a fitness center, tennis courts, outdoor pool and clubhouse with a restaurant and meeting facilities.Facts

hidden gem in Pinehurst 2 diff but good courses
The River Course (formerly the West) will remind you of the courses in the foothills of North Carolina. Though it plays much shorter 6521 from the back tees to 4653 to the senior ladies tees, the River Course demands more accuracy than distance. "Shot making" skills are necessary to navigate the terrain. With the elevation changes, towering oak trees that line the fairways and trees overhanging the small greens and less playable rough make tee shots a premium. Tranquil lakes and streams meander through most of the back nine. The legendary Ellis Maples, a Donald Ross prodigy, designed both courses with the ability and talent to create multiple themes on one property.
great course and a super great price with golf now
Played the west(river) course this time. Its March and been very cold butthey over seed during the winter so the ffairways are green and taken care of. Greens were lightening but rolled very true. The river course has water on about every hole on the back nine so be prepared. This is challending but not super long (blues about 6500) but its great because you can see whats in front of you and no blind shots. Will be back every year.
2 very good and different courses
The west-rivef course has a lot of water but very fun and challenging to play. Great place and with the golf now prices you won't play a better valued course in the area. Will be back every year.
Great value
Greens recently aerated, but very nice layout, played the pines course, fairways in good shape, greens were puttable.
Would play again, in fact played two days in a row.
Very good course
Staff was very friendly and helpful, Layout was very nice lot of elevation changes, some blind shots, dog legs both right and left, course was in very nice condition. Did not care for sand in bunkers.
The course was in great shape especially for January.
The course was in great shape especially for January. Fairways and greens were actually green. Paula at the desk was super friendly and made me feel right at home. Maintenance workers out on the course were equally friendly. Plan to play the West course during my next visit to North Carolina. Great deal for the money as I used the Hot Deal for the round.
Golf Course in great condition.
Played sunday and the course was in great shape especially after all the rain. The only problem we had was a single behind us hitting into us. It was 3 of us and 3 walking in front of us which wasn't a problem but the guy behind us was in a hurry. We let him pass he actually played with the group in front of us after one of their 3 quit after 9. Everything was great other than that. I think on a crowded day singles should be told they have to wait. If nobody had been in front of us we would have let him thru as soon as we saw him. We let him play thru on 9 to get him off our back. But this will ruin your day when you are being pushed like that.
Loved the River Course
Fairways were over seeded which made them perfect. Greens were in great shape. We enjoyed the course very much & will definitely be back to play Country Club of Whispering Pines again! Thank you golfnow.com
weird layout for 9 holes
We had to play like 4 holes on the front and 5 holes on the back to get 9 holes in. Not a bad course but nothing really impressed me with all the other courses in the area. May give it another try though.
Great value, friendly staff and fun to play
The place looks great and continues to improve. Playing conditions have improved. Fast, smooth greens.
Greens in very good shape.
Golf course played longer than the 6,500 on the scorecard due to the rough and the overseeding of the fairways. Greens are quite undulating and anything above the hole was was difficult to put a good stroke on due to the speed. Not the best course in the world, but for <$25, it's a good deal.
Challenging
Terrific bargain for such a good course! Very challenging, old standby when visiting this area.
Great course for the money!
It's not Pinehurst....but it is great in my book. Nice course, well maintained, friendly staff! All around a great place to be on a nice sunny day!
Excellent
Course was in super shape. Played in 3 1/2 hrs. Staff always friendly and helpful.
good value
friendly staff. Greens average in speed and smoothness.
Great hidden gem.
CCWP has two Courses, East and West. While I prefer the layout of the East Course, the West Course offers 18 varied holes for all levels of play. Add to that the terrific Staff at the facility, and you have an enjoyable day, anytime you visit.
