Spectacular golf course
I can see why the senior tour plays this course every year. Tremendous layout, with a wide variety of challenging holes. Greens were in excellent condition and the fairways, although dormant, were still in great shape. Bunkers were exceptional and the sand perfect. Staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. We arrived early as a twosome and the starter talked to a threesome and foursome scheduled ahead of us and got us out immediately. I'm from Chicago, but I hope to play this course when everything is lush and green. A must play for anyone in the Charlotte area.
Good course, Swamp like conditions
We played this course on a Friday, after an overnight rain and another shower just before our start. The course was nearly under water, of course cart path only. Every fairway was casual water which made for some really tough playing conditions. The greens were ok considering the weather, but several times had to move from casual water on greens. We were exhausted by the end of the round due to the conditions. Scoring was not what we were looking for.
Great Place to Play for the Price
Booking through Golfnow its the best price on any golf course in the area. The Sunday I played it was cart path only due to the snow a week earlier and a couple of inches rain on the Friday before, but the course was still in great shape. I've played there before and the courses are always ing good condition.
Not a good experience
Played 2/23/14 got done with the first 9 holes on Jackson course then stopped at the club house to get something to eat, when we came back out to start the back 9 we were told we could not start and he didn't know what to tell us about continuing to play because he couldn't put us in front of anyone because we stopped to eat. We were penalized for eating lol and were told to play the front 9 again or we would have to wait over an hour to play the back nine.
Jackson - Great Course!
Course condition was as good as could be expected for the week after major snowfall in mid-February; wet with snow still visible, and cart path only. But it was a beautiful day and the quality of the course was evident. Front nine was great, back nine a little more challenging! Will definitely be back to play when the course is green and drier! Also looking forward to playing the Jones course.
Spectacular course
Great course - well maintained. Pretty challenging, but what fun. This course delivers for every level of golfer and taste.
Jackson Course
Course in great shape to be winter. Just wish they would over seed with winter rye
where is the next hole??
awesome course- just tricky cart paths. we unfortuntately had two drunk fools playing in front of us and after a ridiculous confrontation passed them
Great, friendly staff and fun, but challenging course!!
Got fantastic deal on GolfNow. Fairways and rough were brown, but in good shape; greens were superb...and lightning fast. LOVE playing both courses at Rock Barn!
Rock Barn Jones course Rocked
The Jones course was played with a buddy from up north and was a excellent value for the money, course was in excellent shape greens super fast, staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a course that I will go back to often and recommend to all my golfing friends. Cost we paid through Golfnow was a excellent value.
The course was good the weather was not so good
We had a good time and there were some places where the weather created some problems although it is Fall and that's what leaves do
This course is a great test of shot placements.
The PGA senior tour played this back nine just a few weeks ago as part of their Greater Hickory Open. What a great layout and plenty of challenging shots to make par. The greens were in great shape and very fast but true. I liked the hills and drops in elevation, some as much as 40 yards made it a real challenge. Plenty of nice views too.
Course was in great condition. Satff is always freindly.
I have played this course many times and always enjoy it. I played alone and the started let me go off early. Make sure to stop in at Sues grill, the food there is always great.
Excellant layout. Definately a well developed course.
Teed off at 2:00 and finished around 6:00. Hickory classic was 8 days before. The back 9 of the Jackson course was the Champions front 9. (I was at the Classic on the 19th and walked the back 9) It was perfect. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were perfect. Being able to play a course after the tour played was a first. I was impressed from the practice facility to the last putt.
Jones Course is Exciting but Challenging
Great design requiring a lot of creativity. Many blind tee shots which makes it difficult to play your first time. Route from green to next tee may not always be obvious.
the couse is in great shape
The course is in great shape, it took us a little over 4 hrs to play the round. I have played this course 6 or 7 times this year and it has always been a pleasure to play.
Love this Course
This course goes above and beyond with not only customer service but also the quality of the course.
always excellent conditions
one of my favorites to play ANYWHERE I've traveled!
Great condition on the greens and in the fairways.
Play was very slow because they allowed college girls to walk and play in late morning tee times. We took 3 hrs to play the back nine waiting every whole for them to walk to their ball and spend excessive time to hit their shot. Coaches were there and should have focus a little more on the speed of play. We tried to be understanding, but standing on tee box for 10 min each whole got very old.
Layout has nice terrain features
Sandy greens were a distraction. Playability was good. Rough depth quite uneven. Still a good value at the special rate. Not in 60 to 80$ regular rate shape at all.
