Table Rock Resort
About Table Rock Resort
The Table Rock Resort is different from most of South Carolina's golf resorts in that it resides in a mountainous setting, not a marshy or oceanfront landscape. It sits in a northwest corner of the state at the base of Pinnacle Mountain, sprawling across 500 acres. Table Rock features a natural waterfall, an 18-hole course called The Rock and an onsite snack bar. Guests who stay in the resort's two-bedroom, two-bathroom condos are allowed free golf.Facts

The Rock at Jocassee
Brand New greens are in wonderful playing shape,Challenging and fun to play.
A must see!
Played this course couple times a year ago and told myself I would never come back. Now under new ownership it is a definite must play. The greens are 2nd to none. Even though the fairways are dormant I could tell there has been a lot of work done and has great potential. I now tell myself can't wait to come back.
Great course, slow play.
Only problem I had with this round was having to wait between 5 and 10 min on every hole! Also the cart paths could use some TLC.
Changes!!
What a job these guys have done! The greens are brand new and roll perfect. Tees and bunkers are much better also. Fairways and rough are dormant but I am sure come spring they will be really nice too. A perfect location and finally the course conditions make you want to go back time after time. Great job Tommy and crew!
Great Greens
The course is under new ownership and reopened three weeks ago. While I’m sure course will continue to improve, it’s still a great value. Best greens I’ve played all year!
Many Improvements at THE ROCK
There has been a lot of hard work done on this course in the past year. And it takes a lot of guts to reopen a golf course when winter is knocking on the door. But they have done a great job fixing and improving this course. A beautiful place to play! I can't wait to see what this course will hopefully look like this coming summer. Thanks for all your continued hard work!
The Rock is back!
I have played the Rock for many years and it was sad the terrible shape the previous group let this course slip to. It was a dog track at best. I played on November 19 and was absolutely amazed at the changes. New gas carts, tee boxes, greens not just puttable but challenging, restaurant open and serving. I cant say enough good things about the course. It is a real golf course once again and i encourage any one who has ever played there to give it a shot. You wont be dissappointed.
What a change!
I played the Rock at Jocassee today again for the first time under the latest management change. I played it last about 3 months ago and was very disappointed with the course conditions, the staff friendliness, and the amenities at the course. After hearing that there had been a change in ownership and heard that Biershank was involved in the new management, I decided to try it again. It was like stepping out onto a totally different course. From the first stop at the pro shop, the changes were dramatic. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the changes in the course conditions was eye-popping. Every green has been redone and was immaculate. It was like putting on a carpet. Wayne, Bill, and I play every week at some course in the upstate, and at present The Rock at Jocassee is our new favorite course. You've got to try it to believe it. The course has always been scenic, but the greens, tee boxes, and fairways are now first rate.
Up coming best course
WOW! Have you seen what they are doing at the Rock! Under new ownership & the place is going to be wonderful! All new fairways, all new greens & it looks like the club house & restaurant are going to be great. They have been closed since mid-May. I was told they will be reopening sometime in September. Can't wait!
Great Potential, Terrible Shape
The course is in a fantastic area with awesome views of the surrounding mountains and waterfalls. However this may be the worst golf course I have ever played from a condition standpoint. The greens are unputtable and many are lacking grass (just sand) and the fairways did not look like they had been cut in about a week. There was no differentiation between the fairway and rough - it was all the same. On the positive side, we were able to play extremely quickly because we did not see any other players the entire round (3 other cars in the parking lot when we finished). The course has spectacular views but lacks in the quality of the course.
No putting surface
I took my son to play at this course mainly because it was a hot deal for $12 each. It was really not a good value after all. The greens have totally been taken over by crabgrass. I have always like the layout of this course and the fairway were ok. Most of the tee boxes had not been mowed in a while. There was really no way to put the ball on most of the greens. They were just clumps of crabgrass and dirt. I hope someone turns this course around, but it's going to take a ton of work.
Nice Track Poor Maintenance
I enjoyed the track. Beautiful. However;
The Greens were in terrible condition. And they don't look like they will be in decent shape ANYTIME SOON
Too Bad }:(>
Lost greens
I pulled into the parking lot at 11:45 on a beautiful February day. 65 degrees. There was only one other car in the parking lot. Having played the course several times - although not in the past year - I was surprised at the lack of golfers. Thought perhaps the course was closed. Entered the Pro Shop and talked to the attendant. Mystery solved. He told me they had lost their greens last summer. It was too pretty of a day not to play. Played by myself and had a good time from tee to green. Greens were the worst I have ever played on. Clumps of grass and bare dirt. There is talk they will replant greens with zoysia grass. Also talk that the course is up for sale. Won't return until things change. Hopefully they can fix the problem. I really enjoy the course design.
Greens
The greens were in very poor condition, on the third hole the green was under repair and it seemed that they put the flag in a section of the fairway but did not mow the grass and it was impossible to make a putt.
Great course with terrible greens
I had much anticipated playing this course after hearing great things about it the last couple of years. When I saw the hot deal on Golfnow I jumped at it and it didn't take long to realize why I got such a good deal. The greens are terrible. I was told that during an extremely hot day during the summer, the superintendent failed to adequately hydrate the greens. 17/18 were unplayable. I left my putter in the bag after 7 holes. It was realy too bad as the layout is challenging and the views are above average. I hope this course finds a way to fix the greens and not go bankrupt as it's a great track.
Play Somewhere Else
The greens are in hideous shape. Until that gets better, I would avoid this course altogether
Terrible from "pro shop" to 18th green
I have played this course many times but it had been a while and now it is without doubt the worst course in SC...maybe even the southeast!! No grass on the greens, cart wouldn't hold the bag and the guy in the shop wasn't concerned about any of it. They should just go ahead and shut it down!! Do not go there even if it's free. It's a shame because fall would be a perfect time to visit this course but it is dead. Golf Now should even disassociated with them to save their good name.
ok for $16
Lots of dead grass piles in fairways and tee boxes. Greens were all in horrible condition, more crabgrass than anything. Had groups couple holes behind us so no pressure but has to wait on slow group ahead that wouldn't let us play through so had prob 45 extra minutes on our round waiting for the people in front. Fix the greens and I will be back. Friendly staff
Wait until Spring 2017
I love the layout and used to love playing here. But yesterday was very disappointing. Only one green of the 18 was even putt-able. The rest were dirt, sand, and patches of crabgrass. Both of our bags fell off due to the strap latches failing, until we crammed our towels in the latch too. Also, on a day when the temperatures are high 80s, there should be water in every cooler, not just half of them!
We were told by more than one person that they are working on things. One guy said, "Come back in two months." I think it's going to take longer than that to fix everything that's wrong. If we can get a super hot deal in the spring, we'll try again. As it was, yesterday wasn't even worth the $18 we paid.
The Rock should cloee
i have played The Rock/Bear Valley many times but i will not be back after my last experience. The greens were dead and painted dirt mostly. What grass there was on the green was crab grass and not cut for days. Tee boxes were akso mostly dead grass and fairways were hitable but hadn't been mowed in days. It appears they have no maintenance budget. Overall, the course was a dog track. Do not waste your money. honestly, the course should close. Golf Now should be ashamed to be associated with this course
