Tudor Oaks Inn
About Tudor Oaks Inn
The Tudor Oaks Inn in Summerville, South Carolina, is a small outpost with only three rooms named after famous golf courses in Scotland (St. Andrews), England (Sunningdale) and Ireland (Royal Dublin). It sleeps only six, but staying has its perks: Access to the golf and tennis at the adjacent semiprivate club, the Legend Oaks Golf & Tennis Club, which offers the Bistro One18 restaurant. Tudor Oaks Inn, which also has an outdoor pool, is located within 25 minutes of Charleston and near three large plantations worth touring - Middleton Place, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, and Drayton Hall.Facts

Excellent course, great value. Plays nicely.
Excellent course, great value. Plays nicely. I will be playing this course again.
Very challenging!
Course was very wet due to many days of rain. Greens in great shape and very fast. Loved the layout which presented many challenges. No delays during the round:-)
Course in great shape staff was friendly
Legend Oaks is challenging and in good shape; only downside is no driving range; hit balls into a net to warm up. Pace of play was acceptable
No over-seeding but decent
Had a 1pm tee time that was delayed an hour due to early AM frost. Starter had a difficult time working the member blitz (shotgun start that started on 1, 2, 3, etc vs 18, 17, 16, etc) into the mix so he just pushed back all the tee times and had 6 groups waiting by the side while all members came through. I understand frost was the issue, but if they would have shot gunned correctly there wouldn't have been any delay.
Overall course in decent shape for Feb with no overseeing and painted greens. Typically is a great place to play for the money.
Too bad for the pace of play.
Great layout and friendly staff. Wish somebody would have done something about the slow play ahead of us. Waited on every shot, every hole when there was no reason for it.
love the course, gps on the golf carts are very convenient
I have played this course about 7 or 8 times,it's always challenging for me being a beginner. I must say I didnt enjoy playing it yesterday because they paired me and my partner up with another couple. I'm not sure if that's a regular thing, but I have never been paired like that before. My tee time was just for the two of us but instead we played with 4. It was definitely a distraction for me and my partner, and I just wanted to know if they are allowed to do that?
Good course with GPS
Pretty nice course at a reasonale rate. The GPS in the golf carts are really nice and is both an aid to your game and for pace of play.
Clean and well kept
The staff was very accommodating and the course was very well kept ...... a very good golfing experience.
Scenic Gem
A very beautiful course that boasts plenty of natural beauty. The layout is challenging but fair. The staff was great and the conditions were spot on.
A little disappointed about the mat and net driving range and lack of ball washers, but the in cart GPS system more than offset that. Great value with resort style GPS.
Gators and other wild life intense so hit it straight.
The best part of the layout is that you can not see the other holes from the hole you are on with one exception. Tranquil beauty.
Play it more than once.
The greens were in good shape, wish my putting had been!!!
I've always enjoyed playing at Legend Oaks, The GPS really helps me find the greens.
Course layed out through resort very nice
Course was challenging because of water and unknown fairways Playing the course for the first time
Well maintained and very nice location
Will return for another round
Interesting layout with challenging dog legs
The day we played was a "cool" day by SC standards. We decided to play from the Gold tees rather than the Blues since they were marked 6600 yards - just over our normal 6500. On that day however, the gold tees were in most cases near the back of the tips tee box, with the tips marked on (or past) the back edge of the tee box. This made the course play closer to 6800 by our estimate and made for many shots >200 yards in on par 4's and not being able to reach corners of dog legs forcing a lay-up.
The tee boxes themselves were in rough shape which is what brought the course condition down, the fairways, greens, bunkers and even rough were all pretty well kept. The best part of the course is the in-cart GPS allowing accurate yardages without searching for a spinkler.
We enjoyed our round there, however I was glad to have payed the GolfNow price, and am not sure I would feel I got a good value if I payed full-price to play here.
It could have been great but.....
The layout and the scenery is incredibly beautiful. The problem with the course is that it has horrible drainage. This has been my experience on two separate occasions. Not only do balls plug where they do not on other nearby courses on the same day, the course gets so saturated that there are literally deep footprints around the greens. Either you play and sink in the ground where you walk or if you play after a week or two dry spell you are hitting out of old semi hardened foot prints.
The inside staff was neither friendly or nasty. They just were there.
My real complaint about staff is they have one particular grass cutter that will mow the entire property without ever acknowledging your existence and moving over to the side. Somebody pointed this out to me the first time I played there and said he is notorious for doing this. Well wouldn't you know it he was there this last time I played there and was at it again. The other grass cutters were courteous. This fellow as an attitude. If you play there you can't miss him. He is a heavy set fellow with a white beard with the attitude of you do not belong on his golf course when he is working. Twice in four months is not a coincidence.
Alot of features come into play that make the challange
I played this course many years ago and was in ok condition. This time it was great, The back nine did not have houses when I played it before, the wind can come into play now, the gators are more visible. The greens were great, true roll and held. The course has great They have many different tees for the low and high handicapper. A great time at a great course.
Great Local course
This course although seems wet everytime I've played it's a great local spot that does not seem to get very busy. Excellent place for a decent round of golf. Price is great for the difficulty of the course. Tend to have slow greens and plenty of opitons for on course play. Only down fall.... no real driving range. They have a few mats and balls that you hit into a net, alittle dissappointing. However need to consider the course is surrounded by homes so has little room for a range. None the less is a down fall in my eyes. staff is excellent and they have put alot of money into their carts. Recently added GPS for a more enjoyable round.
I have played this course again since this review and I really missed it. The course is in much better condition than I gave it credit for originally. By comparison to neighboring courses the layout and conditions are superior. I highly recommend playing it. If I could change my review ranking I would give it 4 to 4 and 1/2 stars. Would be a 5 if they had a full driving range and one grass cutter was courteous. This course is a must play if you are in the area.
