Don’t be fooled by ratings. Don’t play here!
When we arrived the pro shop warned us that we should have lots of balls . Also that the greens were slow. Should have bailed but wanted to play golf that day.
The worst feature was the greens . Pro shop understated how bad. They were laughably slow. The fairways are tight with water everywhere.
They ran sprinklers on a few of the holes on the front nine. Why during the day when we are playing. Had to navigate around them with carts. Got wet.
The conditions on the back nine were terrible as most of the areas adjacent to fairways were under construction . They should have reduced the green fees as a result.
Ending up being one of the least enjoyable rounds I have had in a long time, Glad I only paid $110 but felt robbed as I should have only paid $50 or so.
When we complained afterwards the pro shop attendee just smirked, like this was just another day for him.
Nothing Special
The layout was nothing exciting, water on most holes, several blind shots, the bikers were filled with stones and the greens were the slowest I have played in a long time.
Great design
Course could have been in better shape - area has significant rain fall which made parts of the course flooded (including in middle of 1-2 fairways) and unfortunately the greens had also recently aerated so putting was a challenge.
Course design is great - 10th hole is personally the most breath taking - 17/18 along the ocean were also great.
Top notch staff and top notch course!!!
This is a course that you simply have to play! The challenge is there with smaller green. The scenery is throughout the course is a huge bonus, and the staff treats you so well. My son and I appreciate this gem eveeytime we are on vacation!!!
Very disappointed
Played Wild Dunes Harbor course with family on July 24, 2024. I was very disappointed in conditions. The greens were not only super slow, but they were bumpy as well. It was almost impossible to putt well. The bunkers were literally the worst I've ever seen. Not an ounce of sand in any of them. The highlight of the round was the refreshment cart, run by a young lady who was very courteous and very quick getting around the course. I expected much better conditions for the money.
Course conditions
Due to heavy rain overnight the conditions were cart path only. However the course was in remarkable condition.
Great course. Friendly staff. Will definitely play again.
Course was in rough shape to spend this much
Cool layout along the ICW, but course wasn’t in great shape. Greens were a little rough. I’d expect better for the price, but it’s not an outrageous cost, so probably worth a shot.
Great Course
Definitely worth playing. The course was in great condition and all the staff was very friendly. Hole 10 was fun with a steep incline and Hole 16-18 are beautiful on the water, we caught them during sunset. The range does not allow you to use your driver. I look forward to playing the links course again!
Eh
The greens were in really rough shape, and it’s definitely not worth the price. Very expensive for a mediocre at best course.
Vacation fun, tough fun
Wild Dunes Harbor Course- Got a better deal on Golf Now than the course had online by $15 for 3 players. Course was going to charge 2-3X the taxes. Got there around 1:30 for 2:30 tee time and they were “mowing the driving range” and that would take until our tee time which meant we couldn’t use our free buckets. Guy in shop was super friendly and let us move our tee time on up to 1:50. Putted for 10 minutes and got on. SUPER windy day which made the first holes easier. On the way back it was crazy but still had a great time. Played in early June and temps were not bad. ~85 with real feel of around 90. 10 more degrees and this would have really tough for my father Inlaw (72).
Fun but tough. Lots of water and natural hazards. Good drives on most courses went into the marshes. I usually shoot around 80 and was in mid 90s. That kinda stuff doesn’t bug me so we had a great time. Wrapped up around 6 and started at 1:50. Let a group of 2 and one guy play through on two occasions. Speed of play was fine.
$88 is high for me. I play a couple public courses in Kentucky on a regular basis for 40-50. Father in law tipped the cart loader at start and club cleaners at end. Both were not needed and definitely not what I am used to. Cart lady came by twice
Beautiful scenery and course layout
First time playing this course and trying be told the only reason we picked it was the availability of tee time wee needed. I am glad we did. The course was beautiful and challenging. The water hazards did me in..... Great price for the quality of the course. Wildlife for the area was added bonus.
