Greens looked terrible
The greens had been aerated and no one told us. Had to wait on every single shot. Not worth the price. I’ve played on public courses for a third of the price in much better shape.
Bad from every angle
We played both the Harbour and links course out here for a small golf trip and we all left disappointed. The course conditions on the Harbour course were so sad to see given this being a Fabio designed course. Tee boxes filled with sand, torn up fairways that are wet, extremely slow greens, and horrible carts carts, direction of the course or next holes, tee boxes, etc.
The links course was better but only because of the views which is only really one hole because it is on the ocean. Course is some parts are under construction, more slow greens, no signage, no yardage.
We also were set up with an 8am tee time and they didn’t have anything open for breakfast(no other food close by). The only breakfast spot by the pro shop said they were shut down because not enough staff showed up. This was unbelievably disappointing all around.
Average at best
Course layout is nice and the views are pretty. However the greens were barely in ok shape with weeds and pits throughout. Cart girl came by once on the third hole and never saw her again. No access to food or drink at the turn. In my opinion it's not worth the money. Much better conditions in Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach.
Pretty course but because of storm could only play holes 1-4 and 14-18 but got a rain check to come back and I will enjoyed playing there
Solid course and holes on the ocean at high tide are incredible
It was a solid course and would play again. Is it worth 280? Probably not. The course was definitely in good condition. I also will say that there’s really only one hole along the ocean.
Worth the money*
Was able to play this course thanks to a significant discount through GolfNow, and it was worth every penny of the discount rate! Don’t know if I would pay full price to play it ($260?!), but definitely worth it at about half that!
Wild Dunes, A great golf Experience
We played an afternoon round on a very hot day! The staff in the clubhouse was courteous and helpful. The cart crew were also very nice, they added extra complimentary waters in the cooler at our request. The started was a very nice Gentleman that gave us a little history of the course and shared some course knowledge on #1 before we teed off. The course was in immaculate shape considering the downpours the night before. The 17th hole is beautiful with the Atlantic Ocean and Beach just out of bounds, very picturesque. 5 star experience was shared by our group! Lunch in the clubhouse restaurant was also very good!
Only looks good in pictures
For the money it’s terrible. Picturesque views. But freshly aerated greens, constant construction work, and no real clubhouse don’t make for a great time. The overpriced drinks from the beverage cart couldn’t even make up for the 30yard wide fairways.
WD links
Course was very fair and well maintained. Greens recently aerated however were very nice.
Did not operate as a resort caliber course.
Having played this course a few years ago, was excited to come back after some recent renovations.
Had a 730 tee time on a Wednesday. Showed up at 700 to warm up and check in. Pro shop staff hadn’t arrived yet, so we couldn’t buy range balls.
Went to putt while we waited, but were told by grounds crew that the putting green was closed due to needing to water it.
Pro shop finally opened around 720 - so no time to hit balls before we teed off.
Staff said nothing about the greens being micro-punched on Monday or that we were starting on 10 that day (16-18 as your closing holes are the reason you play the links course as they finish along the ocean).
Didn’t see a beverage cart at all during our round to get waters between the turn or the two coolers on the course.
Grounds crew was still mowing and raking while we were on our back nine.
Physical layout of the course was great - super playable course for all skill levels - but the experience left much to be desired, as compared to other resort courses in the southeast.
Nice but not great.
Courses along the water while on vacation are great, but as these things go, Harbor was ok.
Late July, the tee boxes were ragged, greens very slow, and sand bunkers and wash areas were pretty hard packed. The course did not offer a driving range (had to go down the street to a restricted distance patch). The clubhouse wasn’t notable. Golf carts were older.
We enjoyed our time, but this isn’t the Ocean Course, for sure.
