About La Cantera Resort
Located just north of downtown San Antonio off the Highway 1604 loop is the La Cantera Resort, home to The Resort Course, designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf. It is a former host of the PGA Tour's Texas Open, featuring incredible elevation changes and sweeping views of San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country. La Cantera Resort features multiple dining areas and five pools. Just off property is Six Flags Fiesta Texas and The Shops at La Cantera. It is also near the University of Texas at San Antonio.Facts

Never Been Treated Like That As A Customer
I've been playing golf more than 30 years and yesterday was yelled at for the first time by a marshall. The course was cart path only, me and my friend both hit into the woods well right of #2 across the dry creek into the woods. After punching out we got in the cart and a marshal rolled up and yelled "What are you doing" (I tried to post what he actually said but my review was rejected for profanity) I tried to explain to him that we didn't see a problem with being in the woods no where near a fairway or the rough but apologized and said we would be sure to stay on the path. He said we better or we would be kicked off the course. With the amount of yelling and threats you'd think we we're kids doing donuts on a green. There's a way to talk to grown men, especially when they are paying customers. We told him he needed to settle down and talk to us respectfully. He drove off, no apology then, no apology later.
Course was in great shape, greens a little slow but sped up after the sun came out. Love playing here but after that treatment I'm unlikely to be back unless I happen to catch a cheap rate.

cart path only???
we were treated very well by all the staff. the course is in good condition, but we found the greens very slow. there is a lot of construction going on and it becomes noisy. it was cart path only that day and the weather was in the 90's and humid, so it made for a long day. overall still very good and we would go back and play again.

great course
course was in great conditions. Very challenging, but some easier holes to make it average out. Would definitely play again for rate on golf now. Greens in great shape, but tough.

Fun Golf
I had a great time playing the La Cantera Resort course. The course is in great shape and offers wildlife like turkeys and deer. The greens were fast and challenging. The practice facilities are top notch!

Great course with beautiful views, a completely new and great experience if you have only golfed at your local municipal courses. Staff was extremely friendly. Course conditions were amazing greens are great just what you would expect from a course like this.

one of the best courses for the money
the course was in good shape considering we played after it rained all week . it took my 4 person party just over 4 hours from start to finish with all of us shooting in the low 90's. the hardest part was reading the greens, they'd be fast one way and slow the other .the worst thing was the price for beverages, 5.50 for a can of beer and 3.25 for a bottle of water.

Range closed
The course was in good condition, but with the range closed, it made for a tough few holes. In my opinion, any time a course doesn't provide the services described on site, the course should either issue a partial discount or provide a complimentary drink or something.

Course can play tough
Enjoyed the round. Greens were faster than normal...loved them!! Reading breaks can fool you at times. Nice challenge and fun course to play~!

Good experience
Course had some amazing views, and cool hole layouts. It was a little soggy, which was to be expected after all the rain. I only wish the range would've been open, instead of having to hit the course cold turkey, but can understand why it wasn't. Same as cart path only. Overall it was a great course, and will have to play it again sometime when the weather allows the course to be in peak condition.

Great golf and jaw-dropping vistas!
Despite having to walk a lot because rain had forced cart-path-only conditions, our two threesomes enjoyed the round greatly. Some of us had played the Palmer course before and were looking forward to another great experience. We were not disappointed.
Course, views, staff, (discounted) price-- everything rated 5 stars.

The course was in great condition; it is quite difficult but fair. The greens are quite fast and there is severe sloping on several. The pace of play for the first four holes was snaillike but the foursome let us through and they never saw us again.A 4 hour round - wonderful. I rate this course a must play!
