Moody Gardens
About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Great
Great course! Practice areas were super nice and greens roll true
More than worth it
More than worth it especially with the discount from GolfNow. Very challenging, fun, scenic, golf course. I highly recommend it and I play all over
Wonderful Golf Experience
Although we golfed on an extremely windy day, it did not detract from our experience. The greens were wonderful, the driving was challenging, and there was plenty of exotic foliage and wildlife to see. You cannot beat this unique golf course.
Fun course
Moody Gardens is a fun course to play. I imagine it must be windy most days due to the location near the Gulf. It was windy which makes it somewhat challenging due to the amount of water on the course. The greens were average speed and in good condition. I really enjoyed seeing a variety of birds and the scenery is very nice. Fairways were also in good shape.
Calvin
Great course well kept fairways and greens. Staff in the pro shop were friendly and very helpful.
Course was good but expensive
So I want to be fair here, I would say the course is challenging as in take a LOT of balls since there is water everywhere. Also I will say we went in a slow month and were charged a premium since we are not living in the county even though we played twilight. It was not killer expensive (~50 per head in CDN dollars) but Me and my sons might have played here everyday if the rates were lower. ultimately I would likely play again here since there are not many options in Galveston but I do think that we saw similar courses for less in Houston on this trip without all the ball grabbing water.
Great staff
After reading some bad reviews I decided to play anyway, glad I did , staff was very friendly and helpful.. Course was in excellent condition, I would definitely recommend this course.
Very Nice
My Son and I enjoyed a very fun round of golf on this course. The place is in excellent shape, very nice greens and fairways. It is a very good test of accuracy with a lot of ways to get into trouble if you hit a shot off the fairway.
Greens rolled perfectly!!
Just wish they'd had a drink cart or more water coolers!!
Great Course
Moody Gardens was a great course with a great price. Played it for the first time on the 10th of Mar. the weather was a little foggy but nice and cool. The greens were in great condition. Plenty of water all over the course.
This course can test you!
Despite large landing areas, the wind off the ocean really challenges your ball flight along with the traps strategically placed. The greens were in good shape, reasonably fast for a resort course and consistent. I'd come back next time I'm in town.
Great value
This course is great. For being number 46 on top course in the US it's a great deal. Don't think you'll be able to find anything better for the price.
Best course in a long time!
The experience was absolutely wonderful. The course was in excellent condition, the weather was perfect, the pace of play was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants a top shelf experience without the cost!
Course was in great shape no doubt helped by the mild winter and the day was aided by lighter than normal winds and great weather on the day we played. We will be back soon.
Feb golf
Played on a Friday and didn't catch another group until hole 18. Great course conditions and challenging layout. Nice practice facilities as well.
Gorgeous Course
From Houston to Galveston, this is the best course hands down. Very difficult and challenging course and equally beautiful
The wind made it extremely difficult. Otherwise it was a very nice course
Very fast greens
Great course a bit windy the day we played and the greens were very fast. Overall we had a great time. Staff very friendly.
Lot of water hazards but otherwise not very challenging. Friendly staff. Play was very slow due to scramble that was not listed on the course calendar. Would not have played if known it would be backed up. Value for money just ok.
