Moody Gardens
About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Great Course
This was the first time that my golf buddies and I had played this course and the turf was outstanding. Not sure what type of grass they have, but it is some of the best I've played on thus far. The only downside was that the green had been aerated which was an issue for putting and getting your ball to check. But other than that, I will return to the place this course again.
Great Course
Easily the best conditioned fairways in the Galveston/Houston......keep it in the fairway and be rewarded with a perfect lie ever time
Greens had been airated but still rolled well
The wind makes it tough, be ready!
Great course
We played the morning after a big rain storm. The fairways were in great shape and so were the greens. There were only a couple of bunkers that needed attention. We played at our own pace with only one group coming behind us on one hole. Overall it was a great experience and I'll definitely be back. Probably my new weekend course if I can get a good deal through golf now.
Windy city
Played on my birthday (May 25) and the weather was excellent except for a constant wind from 25-35 mph that was in the face and crossing but seldom helping. The course was in first-class condition in every respect. My only beef would be the 18th hole, which was 399 yards from the senior tees, with the second a long carry over water directly into the worst of the wind. A daunting task for the longest hitters. Basically a par 6 on this afternoon.
Island golf
This is the best course in Galveston county. Fairways and greens are always in great shape. And a good value when booked through GolfNow...
My Go To Course
Galveston's municipal course managed by Moody Gardens Resort. It's a great place to play with well kept greens and fairways. Can be pricy at times but 2pm twilight times and the 5 holes at 5pm is a great deal. There are few trees on the course and the boundaries of each hole are mostly kept by water and marsh shrubs. Bring extra balls you won't be able to retrieve many missed shots. Come out enjoy the sun and cool island breezes.
Perfect Weather for Golf
The course was in great shape green and fairways were perfect as was the weather the day we played 5/15/17 lite wind for the coast and only 82 for a high temp.
The staff was really friendly and nice
The course can be challenging if you don't hit fairly straight some holes have trouble on both sides
this course is a must play if you are in the Galveston area
Moody Gardens improved my mood
Staff allowed us to play a couple of tee times later so we could warm up. Maintenance was outstanding. As good as either of my clubs. Greens like fast green silk carpet.
Great course
Found a Hot Deal on a Wednesday for $30.00. Hardly anyone on the course. Greens and fairways were near perfect. Can't wait to play here again
Overall a very nice course. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were in great shape. The layout is pretty good, but the last few holes weren't my favorite. The bunkers definitely need more daily attention. I played on a Sunday and it looked like they had not been dragged in a day or two. I'm not sure the normal rates, but if you find a hot deal on this course, take it!
Great day at Moody
The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape. Fairways were the best that I have played in Houston. Greens were in very good shape although they were a little slower than I was used to. We also had a great lunch and shared a few beers before and after the round. Good selection of draft beers,
Very nice course
From the tee box to the greens the course was in great shape. The sand was fine and very well placed (I found enough of it!) the only problem I had was the pace of play. The cart girl would go to the middle of the fairway to ask the 4 some ahead of me to ask if they needed anything. Overall it was a great game. I shot 98 and lost a couple balls since I wasn't familiar with the course but will definitely be back!
Be back soon
Played on a Saturday and pace of play was average. Had a pair two groups ahead that seemed to have no idea of time. The foursome in front of us were waiting on the two in front of them....
Besides that course was fantastic. Greens rolled very true and were in excellent shape. The wind was brutal. Blowing 20 mph the whole day. Front nine was a tad easier than the back mainly because of the wind. Several blind shots and bunkers are in strategic places. Fairly wide fairways, however with the wind and bunkers the course plays more narrow than it appears.
