About Carson Hot Springs Golf Resort & Spa
The Carson Hot Springs Golf Resort & Spa in the Columbia River Gorge features a historic hotel completed in 1901, as well as cabins and a bathhouse added in 1923. The bathhouse offers a traditional experience with clawfoot tubs and vintage stylings. Mineral water is pumped directly into the tubs for an all-natural, healing bath, which can followed by a linen wrap and massage. There’s a restaurant at the resort and another one inside the clubhouse of the Elk Ridge Golf Course, a 6,461-yard layout dating to 2006. The outdoor pursuits of the region – hiking, biking, wineries and horseback riding – are at your fingertips.Facts

What a terrific re-design of an older course.
I took my Son and Grandson to play this course. I had played here once, earlier this year. They were visiting from Virginia. My Son is a career Army officer and his 17 year old Son is on his high school golf team. I wanted them to enjoy the adventure of a new(to them) venue. From our arrival to the finish of our round, all was wonderful. The staff were friendly and good at what they do! The course was challenging and very well maintained! For those who don't know, this course was totally re-designed from a somewhat woodland course to a links style course. Accuracy is demanded. The greens were large and very consistent throughout. I don't play alot anymore( best I handicapped was a 14(I'm 65), my son is 45 and plays when he can. As I said my grandson is on a H.S. team. I scored 92, my son, 83 and grandson 76. We all enjoyed our outing and I look forward to playing here again.
A Real Gem
It's a bit of a drive, but you're not going to find a more beautiful and rewarding golf experience anywhere in the Portland area. The course is well manicured and the greens are Bandon grade with lots of undulation. The practice facility is first class and included with your greens fee. I've played golf all over America, including Pebble, and this is as good as it gets for the money. I guarantee you'll enjoy your round!
THIS COURSE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!
DO NOT GO NEAR THE GRASS!!!! THE GRASS MOUNDS ARE GOBBLERS OF THE VERY BALL YOU HIT NEAR IT. THERE IS A LOT OF UP HILL AND DOWN HILL. THE OTHER FACTOR IS THE WIND OF COURSE. IT IS THE GORGE? EVEN THOUGH IT WAS WINDY AND I COULD NOT HIT IT STRAIGHT, I HAD A GREAT TIME. IT IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND IN AWESOME SHAPE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT - GIVE IT A GO!!!
Links Style, in great shape!
We played midweek and the course was mostly empty. I don't think that will be true for long. This is a much improved course and a lot of fun. The staff is great too.
this course is beautiful.
It's always so nice to get away from the city courses and enjoy the great views they have.
Challenging course, fantastic views, super friendly staff.
This is the best kept secret in Sw Washington. You will not be disappointed if you book your next tee time here. The course is in excellent condition, very challenging and comes with fantastic views. A great deal for your money and the staff are extremely cordial.
Lots of tall grass to eat your balls if you are not straight.
A fun course in a beautiful setting. Course design needs work to remove unplayable hazards along fairways.
Spectacular Scenery
I loved this course. The remodel is fantastic. The greens were large and undulating, and challenging for sure! The tees and fairways were in great shape.
Bring your club that hits it straight, because if you leave the fairways, the grass is tall and it's hard to find your ball!
Keep in the short grass!
I played this course in the spring, the fairways were spares and the rough was short. The Elk Ridge course is so much different, US Open like rough and excellent lush fairways. The greens are still slow. This course is a great complement to the other Columbia Gorge courses. Must play.
super challanging bent grass greens and as large as some of Bandon
Just their second year with revamped coarse and it's awsome. (best in the gorge) It will take a year more for greens to fully mature, but they still play well. Coarse drains super well as I have played it after hard rain, and in the rain and there is no standing water or pluging.
What a view and what a course!
The view is gorgeous (pun intended)! The greens were perfect and challenging! It looks and plays like a links course. Be prepared to hit the ball straight. Hitting into the deep grass is like hitting into water. This course was a real treat and well worth the ride from Portland.
Well maintained, tight course
Greens were in excellent shape, dont stray from the fairway. Tight fairways surrounded by knee high grass on most holes.
beautiful views
Great course and very difficult at times. Not too busy either.
Course needs time to mature properly.
I've played this course serveral times and it still isn't ready for play. If you take a divot you will be sure to find rocks and the greens are slow. It does have some nice views on a couple of holes. But the vibe of the whole resort is cold and unfriendly. This place is not a resort.. I think I'll wait until next year to play it again.
great course very well maintained
great staff , very friendly , good food great service and they work very hard to meet your golfing needs , my new favorite course to play !!
Beautifully maintained, the grounds crew due a super job.
The layout provides a great challenge, the gorge winds, and the tall grasses, makes for an interesting 18. I will return with friends to play again.
challenging when the wind is blowing! lots of elevation, recommend a cart.
Elk Ridge is a challenging course that demands accuracy. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The day we golfed was quite windy, so would recommend an early tee time to beat the wind!
Liked the course except the very deep fescue. If you hit the ball off line you may lose it.
This is a very nice course and it is very scenic. It is well maintained and fun to play. If there wasn't so much heavy fescue it would be a little friendlier to play. It has many challenging holes and the wind tends to blow which makes it a challenge to keep the ball on line. I would recommend my friends to play it, but I would tell them to bring extra balls since you will lose them if you hit off line much.
Wow what a surprise
looked at this course 20 plus years ago it was junk BUT Wow
now it is a very nice lay out
It started buy wanting to eat at Stevenson ( near )and good food but the course was a very pleasant surprise. greens some of the best around it now has lots of grass swatches to catch errant Balls .Bring your target game this is not a rip it and find it course
played in 3 1/2 hrs love it going back soon.
Get ready to add some penalty strokes to your game!
This course in located within the Columibia River Gorge which translates into windy conditions. Tree branches are even growing primarily on one side of the tree due to the constant prevailing winds. If you're confident in your swing and are able to hit straight shots, you'll be able to post a good score. Get off line even a little bit and the wind will carry your ball off into the 2-3 foot high grass that borders every fairway, never to be seen again. Almost devilish pin locations on relatively slopey, slow greens make for tough putts. All in all a great course, challenging for even the best of players.
