Lakeview resort
Great value, course in very good condition. The old folks tees were excellent and allowed for a round in just over 4 hours. It would have been quicker except for a small outing in front of us. Will definitely play again.
Absolutely beautiful course in excellent condition
Absolutely beautiful course in excellent condition
avoid
horrendously SLOW play - 4 hr 20 min and thats after skipping 4 holes - at least the bunkers were full of golf ball sized stones and not raked (many still had wash areas though it hadn't rained in a few days - and they want $80 on weekends?
Holes 9 & 18
Seventeen of the holes on this course are challenging but playable. However, holes 9 and 18 are along a steep hillside and it is virtually impossible to hit a shot that will stay up in or even near the fairway. Balls are hard to locate as they usually are nowhere close to where they initially land and the grass in the rough is tall.
Worth it
I played on a Tuesday afternoon with a friend. We had beautiful weather, and the course was in great condition for the end of April. I would certainly play again. The course is long, and that took some getting used to, but it was fun and challenging, and flatter than most other courses in the area, which was nice to see.
Best value in town
The course is tucked away in a very nice gated community. The landscape is prime with a beautiful over look of the cheat river. The greens are challenging always keep you on your toes. The lay out of the coruse is fun as well. Over all this is my favorite coruse in the Morgantown area.
Course needs updating
Cons-
No yardage markers any where on course
No drinking water on course
All ball washers were dry
Greens were punched and all the dirt from the punching was just dumped all over the course
Pros
Inexpensive green fee
Mountainview course
This course is in pretty good shape for being so early in the season and with all the rain we had the week prior. They recently aerated and sanded the greens when I went so that threw off my putting a bit, but all things considered this is a pretty good spot
Fall play
There was no effort to remove fallen leaves. Short staffed. It should be better during summer months. Other course in the area have ground crews working to maintain the course.
Lakeview, nice layout!
Our first time playing Lakeview resort and we selected the Lakeview course through GolfNow's hot deals. Tee times were spaced 10 minutes apart, but we still landed up waiting a couple minutes on a few holes, due to fall leaves and difficulty finding your ball if you stray off the fairways. Fairways and greens were in very good shape. The front nine is challenging with narrow fairways and several sand traps surrounding the greens. The back nine is more open. We had a very enjoyable round with absolutely beautiful scenery. It's a shame the facilities on the course were not replenished with soap and the express restaurant at the turn was closed even though the course was fairly busy. Will definitely return next year and try the Mountain view course!
Unhappy
The best part of this experience was booking through GOLFNOW. Had I paid full price to play this course I would have been very upset. The conditions were horrible, greens were tore up and browned. The pace of play was RIDICULOUS. We ended up only playing 12 holes and that took us 5 hours. So I can't speak to the last 6 holes, but the first 12 weren't anyhing to brag about. Food at the Legends Express? Couldn't tell you, they were out of everything except candy. I got a drink that was frozen solid. Overall my experience was horrible, my first and last time at Lakeview.
Lakeview golf course
Very nice shape. treated very well. would play again
Mountainview
Course was fun, hard, aesthetically pleasing. Not as well maintained as lakeview, but better views and variety of holes. Can't beat the value here thru GN. Will definitely be coming back.
Nice Views but a tight course
Lakeview is a great setting for a golf course. It has interesting holes with lots of elevation changes. The course is in pretty good shape. There are a number of very tight holes, especially when played from the tips, as overhanging trees make several of the holes very difficult to hit a safe tee shot.
There are nicer course, but if you can play it for less than $30, it's worth the drive. Be sure to look for Nicklaus' plaque to the left of the 18th fairway (about 275 yards out).
Challenging Course with Great Conditions
I used every Club in my bag--didn't see 150 yard markers, and afte askibng was told they were suppose to be the white/black poles stuck in Fairways, which I thought were for directions on shots, some of which are blind--the poles are not @ 150 yards., either, I was also told---tees, fairways, and greens were cut very shot, and were very green--had to watch where shots might take a side bounce, due to topography
Great Views
Great views and a challenging course with a variety of types of holes.,.
great personel
This course is nice....no doubt. But it is the kind and considerate people that work...and play there that make this course worth my while to drive to from Pittsburgh. I will continue to play this course as long as they operate in the fashion they do at this time. Thank you for keep golf classy.
The Old Girl Has Fallen
15 years ago this course was a gem, not to be missed if in the area. Not sure what has happened but the overall condition of the course has fallen dramatically. Unfortunately, the quality of the staff and their attitudes appear to have fallen along with the course. There are much better courses and far better values in the area. Skip it and hope for a rebound someday.
Nice course with lots of scenery
The course is a well maintained, visually impressive course. Very challenging layout with plenty of twists and turns. The staff was ok, but not very outgoing, except for one young man. He tried his best to correct a very bad situation with an eightsome in front of us. They were playing a personal scramble, and moved as two foursome from the tee, but not anywhere else. This create long delays for us. We played the first 3 holes before we encountered them, and then followed on 4-6, before returning to no. 4 to tried and put space between us. We played 4-9, and ran up on them again. The young man I mentioned tried to get them to move, or step aside with little success. Finally, after the 11th hole they stepped aside, and we skipped that hole. Once clear, our group completed the remaining holes in 1 1/2 hours. After driving four hours to play this course, I was a little more than frustrated. That is why I waited until the 1st of September to write my review. We also encountered issues with a grounds crew member that decided to mow the par 3 while we were teeing off over his head. If you plan on visiting this course, I suggest that you plan on six hours for the round.
Tough course
Lots and up and down hills. Very narrow drive lanes with a lot of trees. You will loose a lot of balls if your driver isn't straight. Greens were average but I played late in the season.
