Course in good shape
Nice course but pace of play is horrible. Round took way too long because there were no Marshall's policing the pace of play.
A great Mountain Course... with a few issues
This course is beautiful and well maintained and I've played this course at least 20 times. The only criticism I have are that hole 4 is impossible to putt if the pin is in the back. I've had many 10ft birdie putts roll up to the hole and then back to my feet. It can make a foursome of good golfers look silly. Additionally, perfect drives to the right side of the fairway on holes 3 and 6 roll off into the left side woods. I hate it when bad course architecture ruins a good round. P.S. watch out for the large rocks in the sand of the bunkers.
2 handicap
Took forever to get checked in, no starter. Tee time was 2 but didn't tee off till 2:16
Staff was amazing. Course was easy but nice.
Except for the aeration the course was extremely nice. No water after first hole, no fairway sand. Easy layout. Staff was super friendly and helpful! We got stuck behind a very slow foursome, so it took an extra hour to play. Would play again any day.
One of my faves
We have visited this resort since 1988; group of 12-24, been there 16 of the last 28 years. We have been to many great resorts and I can easily say this has been the best overall value. I am comparing this Harbortowne, Myrtle, Ocean City, MD, etc. People there take very good care of groups and I can say they all deserve the good tips from our guys. The key is the two courses: Mountain and Lake are really well kept (like a good private club) and offer a real challenge yet are two very different layouts.... greens have been awesome... fast! Rooms, food and service are good to great...The views and terrain changes are substantial...like very few places. I would go every year but as we get older, we want to try new venues.... but we will be back.
THE PRICE IS GREAT!!!
18 holes for $13 dollars is amazing even in November for Lakeview. The greens were fast and the fairways were just like summer time. The leaves were even being picked up as we played so you could easily find your ball.
Greens and fairways were tremendous for November
The mountain scenery at Lakeview is outstanding and well worth the trip/money. Its an excellent course and reasonably priced. Challenging but certainly playable for the average to below average golfer. We were very impressed by the condition of the fairways and greens for early November.
Great place to play
Started with the staff ..... pleasant, informative and professional. The course was challenging yet enjoyable. Scenic views and well groomed. Greens and pin placements made it a difficult but fun-filled day.
Great course!
The course was in great shape and the pace of play was good.
Slow. Play.
In all honesty, you can't beat the deal that my wife and I had on Sunday. We drove down to the Golftoberfest at Lakeview Resort in Morgantown, WV on a beautiful autumn afternoon. The forecast was for showers, but we never had any. Other than losing balls in the rough and woods because of falling leaves (it is autumn, after all), the course was very well maintained. Our only real problem was the threesome of older gentlemen that we were following. Either they didn't have a clue about golf course etiquette, or they just didn't care. They played "golf by committee," where they all went to the ball being played, rather than getting ready to hit the next shot. By the end of the round, there were well over two holes between them and the group in front of them. We waited on almost every shot and our round took about 5 hours. The only reason that I bring this up is that Lakeview does not employ rangers......something they should consider.
But if you're in the neighborhood, you'll get a round of golf on a really nice course, a bowl of chili, any sandwich off of the menu and a glass of beer for just $39.95.
The course was in good condition. Very fast greens.
The course was in good condition. Very fast greens. Lots of blind shots.
Good course if not paying full price.
There does not appear to be much maintenance going on. Considering that, the course is in good shape.
It is not worth the full price of $80. We played with a GolfNow coupon and that made it worthwhile.
Lakeview course quaint and crowded.
Because it's mostly short par 4s crammed into tight, tree-lined fairways, Lakeview creates very slow play especially when outings crowd it. Too many golfers looking for lost balls. Greens were spotty and showed signs of heavy wear. No starter or rangers when I played behind four guys wearing party hats and blowing their party horns -- on a Tuesday. First and last visit.
Needs work for the price
Course was rock hard, greens and bunkers need work, took over 5 hours to play 18, not good for the price
Mobile Confirmation Issues
I paid for 18 holes with a hot deal price of 13 bucks via my mobile device. Unfortunately for some reason my confirmation didn't show how many holes I paid for and was only allowed to play nine after paying for 18.
this course was very clean and maintained
I love playing Lakeview for under 40 bucks when its in that Good of shape I will continue to look for hot Deals at this course.
Nice course with great views
Played while visiting son at WVU. The cheaper of the two at Lakeview. Challenging elevation changes. Good layout with only 2-3 holes that are side by side. Course knowledge will definitely help for next time, and I will be back. The rough is brutal. Lost at least 3 balls no more than 2 feet off the fairway. And if you do find your ball good luck advancing it more than 20 yards. Didn't know if that was on purpose or simply a lack of maintenance. Cart paths or rough and make you feel like you are in a Hummer in Afghanistan. I almost lost my bag on one of the bumps so be careful.
Challenging and Not Unreasonable.
This course will offer low scores if you play conservatively and stay in the fairway. I would stack this course even with "The Pines", "Tygart Lake" and "Preston County CC".
very challenging.
I like the course because it is a good challenge for my game. A lot of variety with the holes. The last hole is so tough. My goal is just to reach it in regulation. An Uphill par 5, 605 yards with a narrow fairway.
Very Nice Course
It has been a couple years since I have played the
lakeview course , I forgot how great it was.
You ned to keep 'em stright off the tee, do so & you will be in good shape for the second shot most of the time . Save a little for number 18 you will need it...!!,
