About Oglebay
Oglebay is a 2,000-acre public park to some and a four-season resort to others. Guests can choose to stay in the Wilson Lodge or in cottages and estate homes. The park is a family-oriented place with the Good Zoo, Schenk Lake, gardens, hiking trails, horseback riding, an aerial challenge course and museums. The resort adds amenities such as tennis courts, a spa and multiple golf courses, bars and restaurants. The Crispin Center features an outdoor pool with inflatables, a climbing rock wall and the Fountains of Fun Splash & Spray attraction. Arnold Palmer designed the Klieves Course. The Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed Speidel Course hosted the West Virigina LPGA Classic for 11 years. There's also a nine-hole par 3 and the 5,627-yard Crispin Course. Oglebay's sister park, the 406-acre Wheeling Park, is minutes away with the Bloch Memorial Golf Course, mini-golf, paddle boats on Good Lake, swimming at an outdoor Olympic pool and indoor/outdoor tennis courts.Facts

Dry fairways
Greens were decent, fairways need rain or watered, however my biggest complaint is that number 4 and 6 fairways were under construction this spring and they did a terrible job of leveling and seeding, visable rocks are surfacing and they just seeded over bulldozer tracks.
Jones 6/21/24
6th straight day with Temps in 90’s made it understandable that green speeds were slower than I usually recall. Slow pace of play was an issue but worst was my wife and I were hit into from behind on 3 out of 5 holes between #9 thru #13. Result was a slight ultra cation with the individual who wasn’t to happy that I hit his ball into the woods on #13 after it bounced up beside me 20 yards short of the green. Otherwise, love the course and can’t blame the course for an inconsiderate knucklehead.
Palmer on 6/20/24
Always enjoy this course. Understand with temps in the 90’s for the 5th straight day, green speeds were slower than I normally recall. Pace of play was very slow but that was due to a group of 16 going off directly in front of our twosome.
It has been better
The course was not in the best of shape. I’ve seen it pristine many times before. The layout is good and the holes are fair. Stay in the fairway and you can score. The pace of play is always slow. Don’t plan on playing this course in less than four hours. If you do get done in four hours consider yourself lucky cause it usually takes closer to five hours on a normal day.
It’s been better before
The course was not in the greatest shape. I’ve seen it way better. Usually it’s top notch. The pace of play is always very slow. It will take you at least 4 hours minimum and maybe 5 if it’s busy.
Crispin Played Today
Thought it would rain and would be too wet, but the course was good and no 90-degree rule needed. Course has a lot of uneven fairways, with a lot of shots above or below your feet. But when you are playing the West Virginia hills that can be part of the appeal. Greens are well maintained despite the area construction on the Oglebay Resort and impacts on the course. Look out, the greens are fast! Great value and I look forward to my next round! Special note to Course Marshall Ray for his kindness and guidance as a first-time player on his course!
Crispin construction
The coarse isn’t playing normal due to excavation work happening. 2 of the holes moved up T boxes and the sound of bulldozers can be heard constantly on most holes
Winter Golf
This was winter golf. Greens, fairways, and rough in great shape. Bunkers had wash outs. Understandable for winter. Tee markers missing on a few holes. Imagine this course is great when season actually opens.
