An Amazing Mountain Course
I was able to book a round on this beautiful, mountain golf course through GolfNow for the incredible low rate of $30pp. This course normally charges $65-70.
Even though it had snowed 3-4" in the days leading up to our reservation the course was in superb condition. Plush, green fairways with quick paced greens made for a very challenging round for our foursome. There were only a few holes that remained a bit muddy so, unfortunately, play was ruled as Cart Path Only. This was my only gripe of the day- if they would just declare certain holes CPO instead of the entire course we could've completed our round in around 4 hours, instead of the 5 it took.
The pro shop and grill staff were very helpful and polite and the food was fantastic. We enjoyed 3-4 games of free billiards while snacking on delicious fish & chips. Even the adult beverages were reasonably priced.
This is hands down the finest course I've played in WV (and possibly overall), and I will be returning every time I visit my dad to get a round or two in. (I still haven't played the Old White course at the Greenbrier Hotel, but I hope to remedy that soon). I can't recommend this course highly enough. Beautiful course conditions, stunning views and an awesome, friendly staff make Glade Springs a real treasure. Do yourself a favor and play a round here- you won't leave disappointed.
played Cobb cpurse
Actually played the Cobb course due to the course I reserved a tee time for opened on 1 april. Staff immediately offered the cobb course as an option. Cobb was excellent for early season play. The staff was very polite and accommendating. I will defintely return to play this course again
Excellent condition for middle of winter!
Played this course for the first time ever in mid-January after several days of rain, so the course was wet and we were restricted to cart path only. In spite of the wetness, the course was in remarkably good shape. Fairways were short and greens were moderately fast. Doglegs favor right-handers who fade their drives. Lots of sand. Lots of blind shots. Length of the course from the gold tees is just right for this 76 year old! Big greens let you brag on how many GIR you had!
Phenomenal new course for us
As a golf course reviewer, I rated this course as 9 1/2. The layout, condition, topography and wonderfully designed holes provided a memorable experience. The only hole I critiqued negatively was number eight. It should have an area of fairway below the green to provide a safety net for less advanced golfers.
The gentleman who checked us in was more cordial as we prepared for a second 18 than he had been upon our arrival at 8:15 in the morning when we sensed that we were interrupting his morning rituals.
Overall an awesome day! Thanks.
Outstanding view from 16 tee
Other than the aeration of the greens this is one of the best courses I've ever played.
Great course in the moumtains
This course was well-maintained and has a challenging design. The variety of each hole with varying grades of elevation was appealing, yet tests all skill levels. The greens were immaculate, but dampness made some of them roll a bit slower than expected. A beautiful course in the mountains!
loved course at age 71
Loved the course which is in excellent condition. Played from the yellow senior tees which made it fun for a 71 year old. Would highly recommend the course to all
Worth Playing
This is a great course that was in great condition. To enjoy the course the most, you have to pick the sei of tees that fir your skill level, as there are several holes with significant carries from the wrong tees. Although this was my first time st this course, I played with someone who knew the course, which was a big help. We were the first group off in the morning and played in 3 1/2 hours. I will definitely come back to play here again.
Tough course
This course is not for the faint of heart. I am not a very good golfer but I enjoyed the experience. You have to keep the ball in front of you. If you miss the fairway you can kiss the ball goodbye so you better bring a good supply with you. The course is in an isolated part the Glade Springs development, so it is a peaceful, quite and scenic golfing experience. If you get upset looking for your ball, either hit it straight or just enjoy the woodland experience. I played poorly but enjoyed the course and my playing companions.
Great course, friendly staff
For all the rain the area has received, the course was in great shape. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great course!!
It was wet when I played so pace of play would be expected to be slow when cart path only. Course was still great. Greens were still fast. Just not the best day to be golfing for certain. I will be back when it dries out a bit and should find a great challenge!! Staff were great!
WoodHaven got its name correct
Absolutely stunning course. The night before it had rained heavily off and on for a few hours and I was skeptical of the tee time I had the next morning. I had spent the night there after a long drive and enjoyed the delightful breakfast buffet. After a full plate of food, I embarked on the 2 mile drive through twisting roads with plenty of dips, a foreshadow to the course I was about to enjoy.
After arriving, checking in and asking for some advice, I was ecstatic to hear that besides the duo that just tee'd off, I was the only golfer for 3 hours. Knowing this, I took my time and warmed up on the chipping green, putting green on site. After being warmed up, I bought a bottle of water and a powerade and had the cooler on the cart filled up with ice. In addition to the cooler, the card had a club and ball cleaner.
The course:
The course was every bit of a challenge I had hoped for. I was travelling from Chicago and wanted to see rolling hills, cliffs and more.. I was not let down. Every hole I thoroughly enjoyed, especially 14 and 18. I had made a joke to my friends over social media that I am playing on the Wii Golf course. This course to me, was simply unreal. My only complaint would be that due to the heavy rainstorm the night before, the course was real soggy in some spots, but other spots it was perfect conditions.
After the first 9, i grabbed a quick bite. Some of the better concession food I've had especially considering this was off the main resort area.
Great bargain on Golf Now
From the time we pulled in the parking lot, all was good. Pro shop staff very friendly and upbeat. Course in wonderful shape for late March. Not an easy course, but good views and great playing conditions. Look forward to playing there again very soon.
Course was a little shakey
It was a good deal price wise for a course that has a great layout but the green weren't even mowed and the fairways were a little high. But the pace of play was great we didn't even see another golfer on a 70 degree day. I have played here before so I will prob give them another shot to redeem themselves.
Shot makers course
Beautiful course. Really makes you strategies your way around this course. Many elevation changes and split Fairways. A true pleasure to play.
WV Fall Vacation
Course was beautiful! Fall Foliage was underway.
Course had great layout but you need to play more than once to learn slope and how to place blind shoots. Course was in good shape. There was a few areas in fairways under repair. Greens were excellent.
Absolutely a gorgeous golf course!!!
The Stonehaven course at Glade Springs is a wonderful course. I couldn't be more impressed with the conditions, layout, and scenery. The course is moderately difficult from the white tees and im sure a tough challenge from the blue and back tees. Definitely play this course if you get a chance it is well worth the trip. Greens were perfect, fairways were perfect, range is excellent with complimentary balls. Not to mention i had one of the best chicken salad sandwiches of all time from the bar upstairs from the pro shop. If your a golf lover this is a must play!
Great variety of holes
The Stonehaven course at Glade Springs is extremely nice. The staff are very friendly. Played on a Saturday morning of the club championship so the pace of play was a little slower than I would like, but the starter informed my group that the expected pace was 4:45 and we finished in 4:35, so that was all we could ask for. The fairways and greens were rolling out very fast. Sand bunkers were all raked and well done. Course was in great condition for August. If you've never played, every hole sets up well for a fade. Fairways roll quite a bit generally from right to left so, at times a fade is needed to hold them. All the holes offer something different though. Up and down valley elevation changes, but play smart and the course is wider left to right than it seems. All the holes offer something different though. Great views, great conditions, friendly staff, highly recommend this course to anyone in the state looking to play true mountain WV golf on a course done the right way.
Perfect golf outing with the guys.
Great weather, beautiful land scape can not wait to play the other resort courses.
