Glade Springs Village - Woodhaven Course
About
Surrounded by the hills of West Virginia, the Woodhaven Course at Glade Springs Village looks out across the Glade Creek Gorge. It has a unique design with two distinct nine-hole loops, one that overlooks the gorge and tumbles across a series of swales and one that winds through a narrow valley, twisting through mature forests filled with maple, beech, hickory, and oak trees. Natural rock gardens and colorful rhododendrons add even more beauty to the course. One of the toughest holes is the par-4 eighth, which calls for a carry over a ravine. Though the playing area is wide, the hole sharply doglegs left and features a difficult second shot no matter how much you can cut off the tee.

Beautiful but hard course
The wife and I played this course while in the area. Staff was friendly and gave a few tips. There was no driving range, but had a net off to the side to hit balls into.
The course was nice, tee boxes had a few rough spots but nothing to bad. Fairways were never level, but very nice and greens rolled fast and good. This is a beautiful course with a difficult layout and course knowledge would really help.
Pace of play was horrible. 2:40 for front 9, so we went back at the turn and replayed it because no one was on it.
Woodhaven is a Beast
Woodhaven is a very challenging course and requires a lot from a golfer. A beautiful layout tucked back in the mountains of Southern WV
Course was great
But some jerk ran into my vehicle in the parking lot and then drove off.
Shot placer’s course!!!!
Absolutely amazing course… I will say it’s not really for a beginner or really high handicapper. The layout is amazing, the greens are smooth. The bent grass fairways allows you to take those amazing PGA tour like beaver pelts!! Greens are receptive didn’t spin crazy high, that’s mostly due all the rain they was pretty soft. If you play this course you will need to know your club distances pretty good there is several blind and layup shots. As the the title says it’s shot placers course! It’s very undulating. All in all it’s worth every penny. Take plenty of balls if you find the fescue.
One of the hardest courses I’ve ever played!
I had played the Stonehaven course twice over the last few years and loved it. The four of us expected great course conditions at Woodhaven and were not disappointed. But geez, this course is HARD for us mid-high handicappers. The elevation changes were stunning, as was the scenery. I would play Woodhaven again in a heartbeat, keep up the good work Glade Springs community!
Play with patience and bring plenty of balls!
Plan on losing a lot of balls! Extremely challenging but fun! You have to play smart and good ball placement is key! Stay away from the fescue grass! It is easily a 1+ stroke penalty if not careful. I normally don’t lose balls that often and I lost over 10 balls. I almost thought I wouldn’t finish because of running out of balls. lol. I know this sounds terrible but it really was fun. But challenging as well
Absolute gem
What a course. Found this course on golfnow as we were passing through West Virginia on our way to the coast. Every hole was amazing and a new challenge with elevation changes, water, wetlands, woods and grass bunkers. The views on every hole were incredible. Will definitely be back.
Beautiful Course
Beautiful views. Great condition. Challenging layout.
No Walk in the Park
Woodhaven Golf Course: (Note: a local said that this course is probably the 3rd most difficult in the state behind Pikewood National)
Just played a round at Woodhaven Golf Course in West Virginia, and let me tell you—it’s no walk in the park! From the Black tees (6,784 yards), this course boasts a slope rating of 142 with a course rating of 74.4, making it one of the tougher layouts around. It’s got that perfect mix of beauty and brutality, with its narrow fairways, towering trees, and plenty of areas where the rough can eat your ball if you're not careful. I gave away plenty.
I played from the White tees (a bit less daunting at around 6,200 yards) and ended up with a 100—not my best, but I definitely earned it! 😅 The course really tests your precision and shot placement, which I lack both of. Unlike other courses with similar ratings in my area, like River Landing's River Course and UNC Finley (if you're tackling it from the back tees), Woodhaven is a lot more penalizing Those thick, high grasses and densely wooded areas are waiting to take up any stray shots, turning even a slight miss into a penalty.
If you're up for a real challenge, this course will give you all the feels of a high-level test —but with the added twist of mountainous terrain and hazardous rough.
Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a tough round and a course that demands both strategy and skill. ⛳️ I was able to snag a GolfNow Hotdeal and use my discount to play it for $43. #Winning

Returned to excellence
Last year it burned up in the drought. There are 2 or 3 greens that have some rough patches but remain playable. The layout is awesome yet very challenging for most.
Beautiful course. Great staff. Hard for senior golfers
I was quite anxious to play this course, after having previously played the Cobb and Woodhaven courses. When we arrived at the course, the atmosphere was like a country club!! Very friendly staff, and asst. Golf pro. Treated us us like valued regulars, rather than first timers. We were told “cart path only” because of recent rain(and the fact that they have done extensive work on the property recently,it’s beautiful) for a 68yr. Old man with 3 stents, the cart paths are no where near the tee boxes or greens. Long downhill and uphill walks really take their toll. For a young man,it wouldn’t be so bad. Even with a cart,I was wore out after the front nine. Beautiful course, great staff, tough track
Straight or else
Lived up to reputation. If you want to challenge yourself, this is the course for you. Layout through the hills of WV. Ravines, heavy brush, fast sloping greens. Gotta hit mid fairway else risk watching your ball rest at bottom of hill.green approach best for high shots with backswing; strong forward rolls a penalize. Views are tremendous.
It’s dead
The greens have came back nicely all but two of them. They were well cared for.
The tee boxes are bald and almost impossible to keep balance. Almost like a fairway bunker.
Speaking of fairway. There is grass on a few holes. I feel I got robbed of my money and a 1.5 hour one way drive
Would not recommend
The fairways, some teeboxes and greens were heavily damaged by weather or some other reason.
