Mixed bag - gorgeous but SLOW
I have mixed feelings about this course. I really wanted to love it. The Player course has some super cool tee shots, a really interesting layout for a resort-style course and is clearly well-maintained. However, it was one of the longest rounds I’ve ever played. I clocked our round at 5 hours and 29 minutes. There’s just no way to really enjoy a round that slow. There’s no rhythm, and at one point had a backup of 3 groups all on the same tee box at the par 3 13th. I expect that out of a cheap muni, but not when spending this kind of premium for the round. They really need to space out tee times to every 12-15 mins.
All that being said, if you’re ok with a 5.5 hour round, this is a really great round for a resort-style course. Wide fairways, cool views and most shots bounce in your favor. Good shots are rewarded and the greens roll very true.
We had several groups ahead of us that had their carts locked up because they were in a restricted area. Really slowed the pace of play down. We had the same problem on hole 6 and we were on the path. These carts are great and the technology superb but at times they were SO tight to the yellow dots that it was really a problem. Just something to think about. Overall the course was great.
