Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
About Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is a sprawling 1,300-acre, AAA Four Diamond property, home to 355 rooms and 29 new villas. It's a four-season destination with the Mountain Top ski and snowboard facility and the 225-room Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark, an indoor-outdoor waterpark. Sandwiched between Milwaukee and Chicago, Grand Geneva invites city slickers to enjoy the laid-back lake life for a while. It started out as the Lake Geneva Playboy Club, part of Hugh Hefner’s empire. That chapter closed in 1981. Eventually, the property rebranded as a luxury golf resort in 1994 with fine dining and conference facilities for corporate clients. The Highlands and The Brute roll over hills and water hazards, creating distinct theaters for challenging and memorable golf. The WELL Spa + Salon, located in a separate fitness building, offers more than 65 treatments and services.Facts

It was good
I think it wasn't great for me as I've heard it talked up so much so maybe had too high of expectations. Tons of sand right in landing areas and in target zones make for a tough time. I was surprised at how the speed of the greens a bit later in the day as I chased the sun in. Seemed like they almost watered them too much to keep them alive but was expecting some faster roll.
I believe a lot of the flowerbeds are being redone or planned to be redone as spray paint on the ground so some of the beautification of the course not really showing. I wasn't blown away but it was a must play to cross off the list.
What about the greens?
The course was in good shape overall, and the resort setting is spectacular. It has been very dry, so fairways greens and even the rough was fast. Very fast. The course is perfect for nearly every golfer up to about a 25 handicap. After that it gets a little long and my get frustrating (particularly a couple of the par threes).
The surprise to me was the greens. Not that they were a little brown in some cases from lack of rain, but that they had inconsistent surfaces, sometimes in the same green. In many cases, foreign growth had made it onto the putting surface. There are some bargain greens fees available ($72), which give the course "value for the money".
But if you pay $120 - the same value is not gained
Top Notch
This is the prettiest and longest course I ever played. Everything and everybody was outstanding. will definitely be going back.
First time at Highlands Course
Played as a single but was paired up with another golfer. Had a super round except that we were following a golf tournament group that was slow so it took 4 1/2 hrs.
Beautiful layout
Course was in great condition, and very challenging!
Beautiful and challenging golf course
We played this course over 30 years ago and it’s as challenging as it was then. Brute is brutal with higher greens as well as tee boxes. Greens are protected by sand traps or and water. Fast and tricky greens but not impossible. Absolutely beautiful scenery, worth drying up to Lake Geneva. Staffs are terrific!
Excellent facility
Incredible golf experience. Friendly and attentive staff. Swift and easy check in, top notch practice areas. Food and beverage staff (Roxanne and bev cart I think Michelle??) were outstanding. The golf course was in amazing shape. Kyle Nash and his ground crew make this place a real gem. Hands down, best and smoothest cart paths I've ever been on. The scenery was spectacular and we completed our round in 4 hours on a beautiful sunny late May Sunday. This golf course is full strength. You will not shoot an easy round here. If you love a challenging course, as I do, you must play here. Cannot say enough good things about this facility.
Great bargain!
Staff and amenities were top notch. Loved the layout.
Excellent condition except slow greens with ball marks.
