I don't agree with this advice. In most instances it is better to be short of the hole or below the hole. Occasionally being over the hole adds a triple or quad to your scorecard.
Good point Paul, but I think what Rodney is advising is that you should play the percentages and assume you won't hit (say) a perfect 9 iron, so play an 8 iron and you will be more likely to hit the green. I
