Fantastic!!!
Thanks, Martin. This was a great tip!!!
Thx Zachary, I appreciate it.
Would I accomplish the same "behind" swing path if I simply keep my right elbow "attached" to my right side as I swing down?
Zach, no. Please don’t try and pin your right elbow. Allow it to stay wide, w space from your side on the backswing. On downswing, the clubs mass and body rotation SHOULD get that elbow close to your side.
Martin - thanks for another tremendous video tip for all Golf Pass Members! - I'd like to know what the 'mind' or 'thought process' needs to be as you 'begin' to drop the club? Essentially how to eliminate the arms from taking over the 'downswing'? Thanks!
The mass of the club builds a ton in transition. If you try and get your elbows to get closer together, there’s a good chance the club will track nicely. Elbows that separate? Eeek
Martin, would you advise this drill slowly (say 1/2 speed)? This would be my biggest weakness - driver. Allowing the club to drop at full speed is something I won’t likely control.
Jeff, we practice all drill under speed at first, gradually building confidence and certainty.
Martin,
At the top do you consciously manipulate the club COG down and back or are your wrists so loose they dont completely support the club weight? My wrists are pretty firm trying to maintain a flat lead wrist.
Hi Gary, I work on it from time to time hoping it stays subconscious. If you are a handle puller, and stand the shaft up, steeping it, then you'll have to be consciously working hard to overcome your former habit. Soon, it will feel more normal.
I use the TourStriker PlaneMate with the smaller green band but I am still having difficulty incorporating the Magic Move into my swing. I have followed your instructional videos and have worked with the device for about a year. I would appreciate your advice to incorporate it.
John, you may need a set of eyes if you are convinced you've done the work. Often we think we are doing something when we are not. If you want a look, my Assistants can review a video and get you on the right path for a small fee. Online lessons are available on my site. Best, MC
Martin,
I took that "balance point" tip to TopGolf yesterday and started to get the feel of it. Great tip. It's helping my consistency with the driver.
Thanks as always,
Cheers,
Wes
Fantastic!!
Hi Martin
Please explain and demonstrate how to play fade /power fade the driver As club is open to the path but how its then closed to the target
I'll add that to future videos! Great idea.
One might cite Lee Trevino or Dustin Johnson as proof of the video tip. However, Arnold Palmer said, "Swing your swing. I know, I did." In that case, one could cite Ben Hogan's solution or Jack Nicklaus' solution instead, both of whom swung on completely different planes.
Hi Paul, I'm a big believer in swinging your swing...if it pleases you:) Otherwise, swing a new swing...
