Thanks for the tip! Could you share what you would do for someone that unwinds so fast with so much momentum that the left leg invariably finishes with the outer part still on the ground, but the inner part lifted off of the ground. I've had to compensate this by straightening the left leg as much as I can before contact. What's the recommended approach to avoid injury plus improve accuracy or distance?
From your description, it sounds like you have the right technique. Sometimes folks hurt their back from having a reverse spine angle prior to downswing. What your describing is sometimes called hitting the wall or more googleable conservation of angular momentum. In golf we use this law by redirecting the energy up. After throwing the clubs we push off the ground with your lead foot. I often see inconsistency because folks are sliding hips to trail leg instead of turning right hip around spine.
