If your lead leg drifts too much during the backswing, it can throw off your rotation. Shaun Webb explains why this common move leads to poor shots, then teaches a drill to help you keep the lead side more stable and strike the ball more consistently.

Isn't that knee in onto left toe what Jack Nicholas did?
My hips sway excessively to the left in my downswing - which has been very difficult for me to overcome. Is this a suggestion for its (hopefully) fix or maybe another solution is appropriate? Note - I live in a very small town, play at a very small golf club where there is no coach to provide assistance....therefore I rely on "the internet". Thanks for your help.
My shots do not draw when I swing too far on the inside. They pull left. Do I adjust my grip or ball position or both?
When I do that, the ball pulls left.
Moving the left knee in slightly was recommended to help reduce back strain.
Makes it much easier to have your front knee point out on the downswing which creates much better contact on irons. However, lifting the front heel adds an easy 3-4 mph to your swing on the driver.
That's a real helpful tip! Would it also help to slightly turn the left foot outward? Thanks!
I not only turned that knee in I even lifted my foot off the ground for years. So better late than never is always my motto, thanks!
Great Tip!
That’s one of the best tips!
HCP 5 and my ball-striking is purer and more consistent
Feel like weight transfer is a bit less but I actually get more distance
