Hi Martin, when the sand is wet and packed down, isn't the club going to bounce off the sand rather than gliding under the ball, ending with a sculled shot?
Just the tip I needed. I call them "mud" traps at my course!!!

How far behind the ball do you hit in these hard sand bunkers?
I've tried this method and haven't had much success. Because sand is so hard I often can't get under it and end up blading the ball or I don't hit it high enough to get over the lip. I tried just trying a normal chip shot and pretending it's not sand. I've had much more success with this method.
