Golf Club at Yankee Trace - Vintage Course

Played H to L. This was the original 18 layout. Looking forward to playing the Vintage course as well. Heritage was much more open with a wide variety of holes while Legends requires you to be on certain portions of the fairway to not be blocked out by a well placed tree; it’s much tighter. Both 9s had variety within the holes. Greens were nice especially for March. Walkable course, not tons of elevation change. Easy transitions from tees to greens. Soft still, fairways were still a bit wet and long, but again, we’re in March. No complaints. Got backed up toward the back 9 a bit, but the front moved along nicely! Great round. Great practice facility, golf shop, love the military discount addition this year. If in Dayton, this is a good one!

Pro shop employees are seemingly always in a bad mood for whatever reason. Tend to give the idea that they are better than the people trying to pay to play golf. It just doesn’t make sense.

It was my first time playing after hearing a lot of good. I played late in the season, and the course was still great. One of my favorites, I will play again.

Everything was fine on the course but it was the first time using the GolfNow app to book the tee time. The reason for using the app was to take advantage of the ‘Hot Deal’ for the 10:20am tee time - only to find out on the first hole that there is an extra $5 for the GPS feature in the the cart. It’s not about the (small) amount of the extra charge but it was not stated online or in the pro shop. However, it does seem petty that the course is penalizing GolfNow users receiving a discounted greens fee.

It was a windy and cooler day but sunny. Tough conditions on a tough course made it even more challenging than usual. The fairways and greens had recently been aerated but it didn't impact the score too much. My friend and I enjoyed the round!

After playing nearly all of the local courses within 45-60 minutes of Dayton (excluding Cincinnati area courses), I think this is the best public course around. Conditions are always great and the staff is always friendly. I’ve played here 7-8 times now and enjoy it every time.

Yankee Trace has been my favorite course for many years. That is like 20 years. It is convenient and the holes are challenging and fun. The course has tees that are not too challenging but just right.

The course has always been in great condition.

The staff are helpful and courteous.

Not the kind of pressure to constantly move faster like some courses.

First time playing the course, starter was friendly and helpful. Course in great shape. New carts would be nice.

First time I have been disappointed with Yankee Trace. Grounds crew decided to water some areas while play was taking place. I had to dodge a sprinkle while trying to hit a wedge into the fifth green. Had to wait on number six because again they were watering up around the green. Then on number eight they had sprinklers going in the landing area of the fairway.

The greens surprised me to be not anywhere as good as they used to be. Too many divots. The rough was very rough, grass was too high. The value was good because I used Golf Now which kept the cost reasonable.

The carts had geofencing but no where did it let you know you were driving in an area that was not permitted. The cart would stop without warning and it would take a few minutes to go backwards if possible for it to run again.
