About
Pipestone Golf Course is an Arthur Hills design that has been acclaimed as the best public course in the Dayton area. The name of the course comes from blue clay soil that is buried deep in the ground. The native Indians of the area would use it for making pottery and they would call it pipestone. Nestled amongst rolling hills, the golf course offers plenty of elevation changes. The undulating greens and fairways are kept in immaculate condition but they rarely offer a flat lie. The front nine is particularly challenging with several holes that are framed with tress and crisscross over the same creek. Pipestone Golf Course's second hole is one of the toughest with a water hazards and a fairway that is severely sloped right to left.

PM Start and they still stacked us up!
We started on time - a 2:30 start - but they still had us stacked up tight back to back on the front nine - and then managed to slip 4 high school players in front of us to start the back nine - made the round too long. The course was extremely dry. The girl in the dining room stayed late for us so we could eat and she was incredible!
Gone are the Days
I remember playing this course when it was always in gd condition. Everything but the greens were burnt. I would be hard pressed to pay $25 to play this course. Management change or something needs to happen. Woof

In town visiting and decided to play a round of golf at Pipestone Golf Course. This course has a beautiful layout with various elevations making it challenging game for any golfer up for the challenge. Enjoyed the course. Staff was friendly and professional

Accept the challenge
We enjoyed the challenge of the course. Always great to play in a different course to challenge your guild weaknesses and strengths. The cart beverage person want seen until hole 17 which could be considered unexceptable. Some areas of the course could use work but over all, a beautiful and challenging course.

Terrible pace of play
Starter mentioned how packed they were booked, but not once did a Marshall or any staff monitor other groups for pace of play. Hit one shot, wait 6-7 minutes to hit the next. Absolutely awful, took 3 hours to play the front nine. Had to rush on the back 9 to fit the round in.

Meh it’s there
Great greens. That’s about all I have to say. Around the greens it was as sparse as a muni course, at its best it was a B or C course. Need to clean up the course to make it what it used to be in the 90s

Great track. Only downside is they didn’t serve food after 5. But it was on a Tuesday.

Have played this course several times and we like coming here. Pace of play was good unlike other times, foursomes let us play through all day. A bit dry but the course was in good shape.

Nice course, tough greens
First time playing this place. Enjoyed the layout and the fairways were nice and still green (in spite of the drought). We were running late and barely made tee time, so I don’t know about practice facility. If I could change anything, it would be the way the holes were cut. The greens were fast and hard and the pins were in corners that were 2 feet from the edges, sometimes on the backside of slopes. Could have been more lenient when they were this fast. Not a long course even from the tips but challenging. Knowing where to hit it next time definitely will help. $61 for a morning weekend is not terrible. Better rates in the afternoon. All in all, worth the drive and a place to play twice now that I know more.

Course is nice.
First time player. It wasn’t too early, 7:50 am and I was a single. So pace of play was not an issue. All expectations were met. Cart was clean and had GPS and USB ports for charging. Bring a range finder to assist. Course is well mark from GPS and sprinkler heads, but technology is your friend. It was stocked with Scorecard and a Pencil. Sand Bottles were completely full. Played the back tees from 6985 they were level and in good shape. Greens are good. I can appreciate them because the amount of play is high and not ruined by the laziness of others not fixing ball marks and filling divots.

25 years away
Clubhouse was getting some renovation and painting but the course was great. I haven’t played this course in at least 25 years so it was a great trip.
