Twelve Stones Golf Club
About
Twelve Stones Golf Club (formerly known as Twelve Stones Crossing) sprawls across rolling hills, making the golf course known for its dramatic elevation changes. An even lie will be hard to find and golfers will also have a few blind shots in store for them. The undulating terrain makes for some difficult holes but it serves another, more player-friendly purpose of providing scenic respite with idyllic views of the surrounding countryside. The greens are lightning fast, but they roll true and there is rough bordering the well-manicured fairways. There are also several bunkers strategically placed throughout. It is a golf course that is challenging but still fun to play, a statement that holds true for a wide range of skill levels. Given the versatile design and affordable rates, Twelve Stones Golf Club is a popular venue for tournaments and outings.

Great views, just need a professional greens keeper. Photo submitted by HgaGolf on 10/06/2013
Where’d the grass go?
When I first moved to Nashville around 5 years ago, this was a great course that I would always look forward to playing. Since then it has consistently gone downhill. I decided to give it one more shot and couldn’t have been more disappointed. Almost all of the greens were dead. Fairways looked like a goat ranch. It’s as if the only maintenance being done is mowing and that’s it. I wouldn’t play here again if they dropped the price to $15. Will not be back.
Ill try and be gentle
Great layout BUT the course conditions were a mess on the day I played. The greens got wrecked by the frost and looks like no one cares as there was no patch work, I saw, but on one fairway. Regarding the fairways, it was 90% having to move the ball in the fairway to a non-dirt lie. I expected much more from a membership club.
Disappointing
12 stones used to be one of my favorites around. It has an awesome undulating layout that I find a lot of fun. But it has gone waaaaay downhill. It was on par with pebblebrook with how bad it was on certain holes. Tee boxes looked like they’d been blasted with a shotgun, some of the fairways looked like a minefield, and almost every green was slow and half grass half dirt. Sad to see. Won’t be back for a while.
Course has a great layout and clear potential, but the conditions didn’t match the high rating on GolfNow. Fairways were in rough shape, and the greens were recently punched with noticeable fungus that affected playability. I was told they’re putting a lot of work into improvements, which is encouraging, but overall conditions were on the lower end during my round.
Course Condition
I have played Twelve Stones numerous times and unfortunately, the course conditions were the worst I have seen. Penalized when in the fairways and the greens had bare spots and holes. I like the course but needs better upkeep.
Don’t play this course! Horrible conditions!
Everyone in our foursome was thoroughly disgusted with the shape of the golf course
The greens are burned out, the fairways are burned out. There are places where the course is utterly unplayable due to over fertilization and heat damage - repeatedly. There was no acknowledgment from course management that the conditions were poor or even less than satisfactory..
I have played this course several times over the past five years and have never seen it this bad.
When I brought it to the attention of the Pro shop, they were not even apologetic. As a matter of fact, I felt that they were quite dismissive. The guy just sat there and kept grinning at me and didn’t say anything - much less be empathetic. If you pay more than $30 for 18 holes at this course, you’re getting ripped off.
Be forewarned.
Needs better care
This place has an extremely great amount of potential. I’ve played here many times and the layout could in theory be exquisite. The terrian is very interesting and the slopes on the fairways and greens could be really cool. However, it’s not maintained at all and even perfect drives in the middle of the fairway sit in tufts of weeds. There’s no actual grass on any of the fairways at all. The greens are patchy and unmanaged. The sand is maintained well. The tea boxes are some of the worst. I’ve played in the entire city and I play golf every week. It’s extremely unfortunate in that regard. Everything is sitting in sand and not actual dirt.
Worst conditions ever
Beautiful course, awesome layout, TERRIBLE conditions. Absolutely not worth the $80. I’d be happy paying $20 and knowing you get what you pay for but this course was atrocious. Save your money and play anywhere else until they can improve the conditions. Not one green is in good condition, tee boxes are hard as concrete, and the fairway is nothing but weeds and rocks. Bring ice packs for your hands if you ever chunk a ball.
Great potential, good layout, needs a bit of work.
Greens are in pretty bad shape, better than I’ve seen them in awhile, but could use some work. Good course layout, fairways are spotty on some holes. Great potential to be a beautiful track. Looking forward to seeing it restored to previous glory. Pretty pricy twilight rate.
Dont waste your time or money
Greens are just god awfil. patches and dirt everywhere. no fairways either. the people i brought with me were mad i wasted their time and we ended up doing a scramble with us four because the course was so bad
Don’t waste your money
Terrible experience. The course conditions were the absolute worst I have ever seen or played on. Every fairway is patchwork, along with the greens. The course layout is pretty fun but the conditions made it unplayable. On top of that, they have the audacity to charge $75 for 18
After I finally came to terms with this is how my round was going to be, I tried to just have fun being out there and got a double transfusion at the turn. They charged $29 for it!! The bartender apologized for the prices and said it wasn’t her decision but had already charged my card. Absolutely insane. Do not waste your money at this place
Needs Work
Fairways and Greens are ROUGH. They have flipped the front and back 9 since the last time I played here. Honestly not even worth the Twilight Rate due to condition. Sad to see, loved playing this course previously.
Range has shifted to mats, which aren’t my favorite. Putting green is big but in just as bad of shape as the course.
Best part of this course right now is the Bar/Grille attached.
