Royal American Links Golf Club

Excellent value for a weekend early afternoon round. There are a few holes which run right next to each other which can be dangerous. Course is in pretty good shape, no real conditions to complain about.

Used to be so nice, haven’t played it in a few years, not what it once was. Dirt. Bunkers where sand used to be in futile attempt to make them grass bunkers? Sand bunkers with no sand! Fairways so ragged and long providing little differentiation to rough.

Greens pretty nice. Course layout is interesting. Just so far down scale from what it was and what it could be.

I have played Royal many times over the years,and I’ve never experienced it in this poor of a condition. My first visit in about a year was disappointing. The fairways were all “long”, as in hadn’t been mowed in several several days. I know September was generally wet, but all other area courses have recovered by. Ow, but not Royal. The bunkers that had sand were poorly maintained, hadn’t been raked or dragged, and all needed sand. Then there’s the bunkers that didn’t have sand and are maybe go8ng to be grass bunkers? They didn’t have any gras, more like construction fill with gravel and dirt.

This is potentially one of the best golf courses in Columbus, but has really fallen off.

I played on a saturday, great weather so I knew it's be busy, but I had 3 4 somes in front of me, and they wouldn't let me play thought since they were together. I didn't know that they allowed informal golf outings.

Really liked the layout and course design. Beautiful with well implemented water features.

Sand bunkers were soaked and the ones without water could use some maintenance. Some fairway spots needing maintenance too but overall in good shape.

Great layout, grass and greens were just ok, cart paths were horrible, bunkers were void of a lot of sand and don’t appear that they have given any attention in awhile.

A group of about 60 were playing a scramble tournament also so it was extremely slow.

Finally starting to get some work after years of bare minimum and it shows! Record rainfall, CPO, full tee sheet, never felt backed up or slow (<5hrs) and the course was holding up well. Greens are firm and roll true. If improvement and care continues at this level, the course will be back to it's full potential quickly.

The course has shown improvement since my last time playing it. The fairways were generally in good shape. Tee boxes were also well kept. Some greens had disease or brown spots. The repaired bunkers had soft sand. Overall enjoyed playing and would do it again.

There are several areas around the greens that are not grass, they have unfinished gravel areas around the greens. I’ve never seen that before.

The cart paths need a lot of work.

They started us on the back 9. We get to tee boxes 1 and the mowers were on the first 3 fairways. Like, what?? This should have been done by now.

The mowers did not replace any of the tee box markers.

The tee boxes and greens were in good condition.

The grill food and drink service was above average.

Overall, priced too high for what you get. Me and my group won’t be back.

Great layout but nobody who plays this course likes to replace there divot or fix there ball marks. Fairways are full of divots and dried up beaver tails

My friend enjoyed this course it was challenging, but not difficult and it made you play your best shots

The biggest complaint is over the years. The greens have not been as maintained as well as other courses. They’re working on that I would recommend this course for anyone who wants a good round of golf, but not too expensive.

The golf course was appreciately better. They lost a couple greens in the past. I believe there was only one small section that was not the same as the other 17 greens. Congratulations Royal American, the golf course is going in the right condition.

We had two groups and the course was in pretty good shape. Most of the bunkers were not in good shape. The pace of play was good. 4 hr round!!

This is a nice layout, harder than average public course. the one issue is the conditions weren't great. Greens had many spots that looked under repair as did fairways. Traps were very inconsistent- some great, others not so much. For what I paid I guess its OK but this layout could be so nice with some (not minor) work on the course.

Royal American is a quality, challenging track. With the ongoing effort to fill-in a majority of the bunkers, the condition of the course will be improved once that is completed. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. But I can’t do a review about without expressing How useless the Golf now gift card is when it comes to usage. Despite having $40 on a gift card it covered neither the convenience fee nor the cost to play. Apparently a gift card only works when you’re making a hot deal reservation. Although that is not nearly Clearly spelled out either on the app or on the gift card itself.

The bottom line is I will play Royal American again, but I want nothing to do with using a golf now discount gift card.
