Needed to kill a few hours before a concert later that night
I had heard about this course over the years and decided it was worth a stop on the way to a concert that night in Raleigh.
The approach and overall setup of the course is different for sure and lets you know it’s one of maybe 3 courses in the surrounding ~40 miles.
I was able to tee off early which is always great and played through the first nine (from the 10th today) in just over an hour.
The back nine was slower but with time to kill I didn’t press the 5-some that all looked at me on the tee box while they sprayed their tee shots on the widest fairway out there.
The place is unique in design and layout as it follows farmland that existed before it was a golf course. There are natural tree obstacles which you would never see on any other course and some holes you have to drive up to see what’s past all the growth you tee off in front of.
I likely could have made it further south and tried to play around RDU but no one wants a six hour round in 90 heat before an outdoor concert.
Very fun course
This was a pretty neat course, driving up I didn’t think much of it but after talking to the staff and playing the first few holes it was something special. The par 6 18th was definitely the highlight of my round.
Decent play
Greens were in decent conditions.. the fairways and tee boxes were very dry although that is due to the hot weather. Great value for the money. The clubhouse could use some updates. Overall great value for the money and would definitely play again
Surprising
I enjoyed it, truly. Kind of confusing at points with the lack of signage. But I really enjoyed myself. Had an unbeatable value. Also, the course had no idea what to do with the fact I paid within the app.
