About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Excellent greens
I thought the greens were excellent. The course layout was good. The amenities were very good.
Very Hard
Its a very hard course with very small highly ungulating greens. If thats what you like, this ones for you..
Not great
For the price, this course does not deliver. Super right, so many doglegs, nearly struck with a ball three times from other fairways, people yelling fore all day, tee times too close together, significant wait at each and every tee box due to delays, no cart person, no ranger monitoring pace of play. I could go on and on. Will not return. This is a profit machine without much concern for the golf experience. I didn’t catch it when I checked the initial reviews online but most of the positive reviews are specific to the restaurant; most of the golf reviews are poor.
Surprisingly disappointing
I've played this course in years past. It was always well manicured and in great shape. This time...not so much. The cart paths are a mess! Many of the tee boxes and several of the greens are also not great. Pace of play...also not great; as the tee times are far too close together. 10 minutes is simply not enough. The staff at the starter's station were great. Nice. Informative.
Parking- there should either be signage or a staff member in the parking lot. Asking folks to move their cars after they have already parked is unnecessary.
Not good
Course in rough shape. Odd layout with parallel fairways. Cart paths are not good… tree root mounds and pot holes all over… rough travel
Solid course
Friendly and welcoming staff. Difficult layout to follow, luckily got paired with someone who's played there before and made it a lot easier. Great conditions and would recommend.
Overall good round
The course is short but in really good condition. My only complaint is the club house is too far away to get a dog and beer on turn.
Course Was In Great Shape, A Gem!
This course was in great shape. The fairways were great, the greens were excellent, rolled true and about medium to fast speed, the bunkers were slightly hard pan but I really like those better than super soft sand bunkers, and the rough was also in great shape. I was surprised, for a 6000yrd course from the tips how nice it really was. I was not expecting it to be in this good of shape. I will play this course many times over again. Highly recommend!
Needed course directions
The course layout is hard to follow. We played with someone who had played here before and they guided us during the round, especially the back 9. It was warm and no water on the course and water in clubhouse was not turned on.
Great conditions fun course
Course was in great condition. Some holes definitely require good ball placement. Overall fair and fun.
Lost ball wasteland
Terrible congested layout with balls flying in from every angle trying to kill you. Never lost so many balls in my life. Never again. Good restaurant though reasonably priced menu.
