The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

No ranger
We teed off at 11:00 am on a Friday. There was no ranger on the course the entire time. We had to quit on hole 14. On pace for a 6 hour round of golf. I went into the pro shop to use bathroom before we left. He said “how was it”
I said we played 14 holes in 5.5 hours. He goes ohh yea it’s really crowded. I said you don’t have a ranger? He goes no. He was like some people say it takes 6-7 hours for 18 holes. Please do not play here we sat on one tee for 15 minutes watching a person hit atleast 5 plus tee balls off multiple tees.
I enjoyed my round today. Course was in good shape. Greens ran true.

Greens were in good shape, nice course, it’s an open golf course, some tee box’s were tough, not bad for local crowd.
Good value
Cool layout and in nice shape. Only complaint would be slow play. No ranger to get slower groups moving. Some of the holes overlapping creates backups
Thought i was having a nightmare
Had a 9:30 tee off and while we were getting set up I noticed there were 4 women ahead of us teeing off at first tee. Not just ordinary women they all had to be over 80...no lie they would hit there ball like 30 yards get back in the cart drive 30 yards get back out and hit it another, so on and so on. We were told they were only playing 9 so after the 8th hole and 3 hours later they finished thank god...it was a golfing nightmare. We finished the next 10 holes in 2 hours..it was wide open. Really not the courses fault they did try to move them along. Thankfully it was a nice day and I had my phone to keep me occupied. I have been playing golf for over 45 years and had never seen anything like that before and hopefully never again.
Fun Course for the Value
Found on Golf Now. Great layout. Open course with out a lot of hazards. Pace of play was greatl I'd go back.
