LSU golf course
This is my second time this week playing at LSU! The bang for you buck is exceptional. $23 for 18 holes is amazing. $30 on the weekend/holiday.
The true downfall of the course is its maintenance. The greens and tee boxes are all extremely overgrown and either rock hard or sandy.
The surrounding grass is impossible. You are almost guaranteed to lose any ball that’s not on the green or dead center fairway. Even fairway balls get lost in the grass.
The staff was super friendly and they have lots of stocked vending options for your gameplay. You will need your own ice and ice chest because neither are provided or available. There is no cart girl/boy.
The course is never super busy so your pace of play is more lax and you get opportunity to practice. It’s a great course for training and learning.
Overall - I will golf here again. The price is right and I can always use balls I don’t care about.
Biggest draw back is - the grass/greens and ball loss.
Save your money- please
This course is awful, I’ve been golfing in the area for about a year now and I can without a doubt tell you this one is the worst. To put it quite simply, they have not and will not take care of this course. It’s one of the few places I’ve been where the tee box is like hitting out of the rough. You can hit it dead straight into the fairway and still won’t find your ball. They have beautiful property with a lot of potential don’t get me wrong. I wouldn’t even write this review but the fact that they charge 25-30$ for a tee time is criminal.
Don’t waste your time. Don’t waste your money. The fairway and the tee boxes was like playing from the 3rd cut on the PGA Tour.
Bad
I know they had a bunch of rain recently but this course was in terrible shape. The tee boxes hadn’t been mowed in what looked like weeks. You couldn’t even see the tee box markers the grass was so high. There are hardly any signs telling you where the next hole is. It was hard to find balls in the fairways because the grass was so tall and full of weeds and most of the greens had mole crickets or something pushing dirt up. I didn’t expect much for the price but they could at least have water jugs out in this heat. This place has potential to be a fun course if kept in better condition.
The is not easy to navigate. You have to have good shot shaping Lenny
Most people are comfortable concerning price. Course conditions is not a big issue to the majority
Course condition
The course is in terrible condition the fairways had been cut when the grass was way high and it looks like hay piles in fairways you can easily loose your ball under one of these hay piles. I heard the university is planning on closing the course for the construction of a new assembly center in at the course location so there isn’t any money being put into the course from the university. No drinking water nor ball washes on the course the greens were below average. I don’t recomend this course. It use to be great a few years ago but not now. Unless you are a student and don’t have anything else to do I would find another place to play
Bad shape
Not sure where all the LSU money goes, but it is definitely NOT the golf course. Bad shape all around. From the carts to ball washers, posted hole markers, landscaping… all in a bad state of disrepair. Save your money! Couldn’t even get a picture in front of the “clubhouse” it was so faded out.
Trash
Greens terrible, grass throughout course was apparently cut when it was well past due and left hay where it laid and past due for another cutting and staff member working the course driving around harassing us about carts needing to be turned in at 6:30pm when it was 5:45pm with 2 holes left to play. (It gets dark at 8pm)
Poor course but good for Under average/ average golfer
Bad course but for the bang for buck it’s good for people who aren’t as good as golf like myself but still have fun playing
