The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh originated in 1735, founded by the merchants, writers, bankers and others who helped forge modern golf. They golfed the Bruntsfield Links and drank ale in the Golf Tavern, and no golf trip to Edinburgh would be complete without following in their footsteps whenever possible.
The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh's Barnton golf course measures 6,531 yards, with a 71 par. Tee off on a par-4 391-yarder with a shot down the fairway's left; keep in the bunker, allowing for a line in. The golf course's lone par-5 is a relatively short one: The sixth hole measures 485 yards and can be reached in two swings by long hitters, as long as you can avoid the bunkers and trees from the tee. The 18th hole may seem to be a short par-4, at 247 yards, but get cocky and you might as well tear your card in half, as you've got to hit right from the tee, with out-of-bounds and trees providing hazards from the start.
