Douglaston Golf Course
Great course. Many levels. Good exercise to walk a challenging layout
So slow!
It was even slower than usual. I know there’s no range, but someone has to control the pace. First of all, there was an event in the morning, and the course was not ready or prepared for all the teetimes that came after so it was already backed up. But two groups ahead of us actually the group in front of the group in front of me must’ve been playing a PGA tournament because they were taking minimum 15 minutes per hole if not 30 minutes. It wasn’t until I passed them on the 14th or 13th hole that I was able to enjoy myself and they were nowhere to be seen behind me. You cannot allow walkers first of all when it’s so crowded second Ball you cannot allow people to learn on the course!
Great staff, course was in excellent condition
Course was in great condition. My group had never played the front 9 at Douglaston. Had some confusion finding the tee box for the 8th hole. Luckily another group informed us of where to go.
Friendly staff, very helpful. Definitely will return and would recommend to others.
5 1/2 Hours round
It took 5 and half hours to play. The group in front were holding up the course. There was a wait on every hole. There was no ranger to speed up play.
Douglaston Review
Course is in great shape
Staff is always friendly and helpful
2 issues that need to be addressed:
1- there was only 1 water station ….it was cold and refreshing but need a few more for the summer
2- cart paths need to be addressed
Long Way To The Fairway
The course makes up for its relatively short length and seven par threes with its 200 hundred yards of thick rough prior to the Fairway. Hang in there until the 15th, when the course will reward you with three scorable par threes.
A good varied hilly city course
Overall enjoyable experience
Staff friendly and willing to help
Course generally in very good shape
Last time i played greens were faster
This time slow
Course would benefit from a ranger to keep pace. Its quite slow
Newer players may take 10-12 shots per hole
But would return
Well-kept Public Course
First time playing Douglaston and I was pleasantly surprised by this short muni course. Exceptionally well-kept fairways and greens for a public course and pace of play was above average for a Saturday morning as well. Overall, I’d definitely play here again and would recommend it to anyone in the NYC/Long Island area.
Blown over by quality of layout
While there were some barespots overall grass condition and greens were great.
Would like more obvious yard markers as gps unavailable on carts.
Probably play would be helped with one marshal travelling the course. However, given the number of walkers and inexperienced players, play was not exceedingly long.
Excellent shape
Course was in excellent shape! Greens were great as were the tee boxes. Impressed with the upkeep and the improved nets on #18, renovated restrooms, and bunker conditions. It’s more expensive now than in the past but I’m very happy with the improvements! Pace of play was good for a Friday afternoon, despite busy conditions. Nice snack bar at turn.
Recap
Amazing course, weather sold it short, would play again and recommend
