Trail/Blue at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club
About
Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club boasts 27 holes of championship golf that are played in three 18-hole combinations. The three different nines are natural named Blue, Ridge, and Trail. Tucked away in the hills of northeastern Pennsylvania, the golf courses provide stunning scenery and views. All of the holes were carefully carved from the surrounding woodlands and molded into the hillsides. An abundance of trees characterizes the course, giving all of the holes a secluded feel that is further enhanced by the design, which doesn't feature any parallel fairways. The Trail/Blue Course combines the shortest and longest nines but both are considered slightly more challenging than the Ridge nine. The Trail nine possesses two of the four water holes at the club. There is a combination for every skill level and four sets of tees make the nines even more accommodating.

Great Time as always
We play here once or twice a year, meeting halfway between Syracuse and Baltimore. The course is in great shape, including the bunkers, which is often a course's weak link. It's a nice layout, with a good variety of holes. Pretty place too. Greens were firm and ran true. We played a 4:02 round on a busy course. We played the BLUE/RIDGE combo on the 27-hole layout with some local guys who really knew the course and were great company as well. Love the 3-hole stretch on RIDGE, 5, 6, 7. Challenging and memorable. We played up a tee box this year for the first time, as we're 65 and 66 now. The green tees were only 5,527 yards versus 6,204 from the white. The gold tees are 7,095, blue 6,602 and the red 4,907, so there are tee boxes for everyone. Use the right one and pace of play is better and of course your score will be better too. More fun shooting an 81 today than my 90 last time from White. We've only played the TRAIL 9 once in the 6 or so years, maybe 8 rounds, we've played here.
This is the last place we play each trip, so we always eat at the clubhouse and head our respective ways on nearby I-81. The food is very good. Had a great cheesesteak and fries combo. Hope to be back in September, and for many more years to come. Pre-paid on GolfNow getting a hot deal and using a monthly $10 discount, so we only paid $30/man. Worth double that to me.
Great Course
From the young lady who took our clubs and put them on the cart to the last farewell, this course was great. The course was well maintained and in good shape, even though it was the end of April.
Worth the money
I always enjoy playing this course. The layout is great. The conditions were very good for this late in the year. It’s always kind of confusing what course I’m playing from one to the other. The only complaint I ever have is slow play and there’s never any ranger to keep people going at a decent pace.
Nice challenging layout
We had a great fall golf day. Conditions were very good. The front 9 played at a good pace. The back 9 very slow. Not a lot of water but high grass hazards everywhere. This makes for an interesting experience.
Slow
At least 20 min past our tee time then we get to the tee box and there is a five some ahead of us so we waited on every hole then we get to the next 9 on the ridge course and there was 6 guys teeing off we skipped that hole which I hate doing then we had the five some again but they were great and let us play through not coming back
Reframes mountain courses
When I hear mountain courses, I think of thin fairways that lean and your ball will roll to the low side wherever you hit it. However this course reframed me to believe there is hope for mountain courses. This course is well maintained with ample space to make shots. Sand bunkers that play like sand. Challenging layout and you need to use every club in your bag. Staff and amenities are superior to most. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were all in very good condition. A great value for the price, you will not leave disappointed.
Staff Was Terrible
The course was okay - the greens were good but the fairway was very chopped up. The staff was overwhelmingly cranky and was snippy about the most trivial issues from the start; they clearly hate their jobs. The course was not worth dealing with the disrespectful crew.
The food was actually really good.
Not for beginners
Fairway is a mile wide but if you tend to slice like me and it goes into another. Goodluck finding your ball.
