BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Golfer Reviews
Nice Course in the Heart of Cypress
Liked the course I played (North Course) and how the front 9 winds around buildings and goes accross to the other side of Fry Road. The back 9 however, was just basically going up and down
Recently Cored
Greens are recently cored right now. I enjoyed the layout of the course. The carts are getting pretty tired and they are far too strict on access. Playing with a member and even they had multiple issues of having to reverse back to the cart track because it had decided you couldn’t drive on that particular piece of fairway despite no prior indication on the screen that it was a restricted area. We’re talking middle of par 4 fairways that were dry. It really detracted from the round always worrying if the cart was about to stop.
Greens in Excellent condition
Cart path only wasn’t fun but necessary to protect rain soaked fairways, otherwise tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in excellent condition, really fast, and rolling true.
Yes, With Caveats
The course was in good shape and the majority of staff we encountered were friendly & helpful (the marshall on the back 9, the drink cart lady, the range attendant, the restaurant staff, etc). The cart was a horrific, hyper sensitive experience - absolutely ridiculous restrictiveness!
The first water station had no cooler - not that big of a deal.
Guests are treated secondarily to members as we felt the weight of this in the range clubhouse.
Would I recommend? - yes, with several caveats.
Overpriced
Course has been in rough shape for $170, crab grass everywhere
BlackHorse North
Great round at BlackHorse North. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape, especially considering the recent rainfall The layout keeps you on your toes with a nice mix of doglegs and straightaways, and the wetlands/oak tree setting makes it feel secluded even though it's close to Houston. Friendly staff, good pace of play. Not the cheapest, but worth it. Will be back soon.
Outstanding course
Very challenging for a mid to high handicapper. Love the layout. Would recommend
Course layout is fun and challenging
Every thing about the course was good however there was multiple places in the fairway there was crab grass that what's pretty tall and hit the ball out of it was almost impossible
Extremely Overpriced
I’m new to the area and had several people tell me not to play BlackHorse because the price doesn’t match the conditions. I went anyway to see for myself—and they were right.
The layout is good, and most of the staff was friendly. But that’s where the positives end. The starter had a poor attitude (almost like he was annoyed I paid $170 to play), and the course conditions were disappointing.
Most of the course was yellow and looked poorly maintained, like it hadn’t been mowed properly. The greens were decent, but even they had noticeable mower marks.
Bottom line: this is nowhere near a $170 course. It plays like a $50 course at best.
Slow and Hot
We played a brutal 5 hour round in the heat. We waited on virtually every hole. Marshalls didnt appear to make any effort to speed it up. The course is not in good enough condition to justify the price even without the pace issues. On top of that most holes had random sections that were blocked off by the GPS in the cart and forced us to reverse out of the area even though we were in the fairway and it was not CPO. Overall not even close to worth the price.
A good day
Played Black Horse North many times. Course was in great condition. No delays and a nice sunny but windy day for a game. I played my usual bogey golf but hit enough good shots to bring me back next time.
Not a fan of limiters on the carts telling and controlling my movements.
Overall a great day and good value for money.
Blackhorse Golf Club
I played the South course. Very nice layout, course was in very good condition. Some areas around bunkers had been freshly sodded. Greens rolled true for the most part. I only has one green where the ball bounced any.
Had a Blackhourse burger after and a couple drinks. Butger was excelent. All staff in Club house, bar and the marshals are excelent, very nice and helpful.

Pretty Good
Not as upscale as I thought it would be. The carts were a little rough, there were no towels, and no one was outside helping with bags, carts, directions. I kept asking regulars for info.
Fun time
The course would have been much more fun to play if it hadn't rained several inches the day before. Lots of large areas of casual water,
