The Winston Golf Club

The Winston GC is a 10 minute drive from downtown Calgary, and is a semi-private club, allowing for public play. Weekdays are most accessible, and booking a tee time is rather easy. The lay-out is a tough one from the back tees, and water comes into play on 7-8 holes. The conditioning of the course is outstanding, with a variety of green sizes and slopes. The course is well-treed, but allows a player to hit driver on most par 4s or 5s, without having to lay-up.

The pace of play is very good, and at most times it will be between 3:50 and 4:15 hour rounds.

There is good hal-way house service, and cart service on course.

The clubhouse has nice views of Nose Creek Valley, and this course is a real oasis in the middle of the City.

Good food service in the club-house, and a friendly and helpful pro-shop staff and clubhouse meal service as well.

In my opinion there is not a better public course in the greater Calgary area than The Winston! I absolutely love the design of this course.............the lush Parkland setting with some nice elevation change......gorgeous tree lined fairways with the river gently meandering through some holes........is just fantastic.

#10 is one of my favourite par 5’s I have ever played.

The Winston has the best greens in the city bar none!...........and I play private courses like Priddis Greens regularly.

This track is a hidden gem,...........looking forward to play again.
