About
The Valley Course is a heavily forested golf course is the original layout at the club. The course is unique in that it has relatively short yardages rated with such high slopes mainly due to the tight fairways and numerous elevation changes. The driver will most likely stay in your bag while the long irons will be used often. The golf course is very tight, offering an ideal place to get some practice with irons. It is also provides an ideal warm-up round for the more difficult course at the Horseshoe Resort, the Highlands Course.

Golfer Reviews
Signs of former Glory ⛳️!!
I played this Course ⛳️ back in the 80’s & was always a Favourite!! Nice to see Freed pouring money into to bring back to it’s former glory!!
Staff were friendly
The golf course is well-maintained and repaired, and the staff were friendly, which was great.
Bizarre conditions
After days of 40C we booked ad temp would be 30C, But the smoke showed up and temps did not climb. The results were crazy, greens were still very wet and it was 1 PM.. Just very nuttie conditions.
We are starting to see some investment going into making the course better especially rebuilding greens and tees boxes.
Hopefully this happens quickly as most tee boxes are a mess.
The elevations are very challenging, do not be fooled by the yardage. 363 up the mountain plays like 450. DO not blindly just play white you will play dearly if you do not drive the ball at least 230. As you rarely get to a dog leg.
On these par 4 you better chip to putting range on 3rd shot or boggy will be the norm.
The greens were too wet to get good reads.
Poor conditions
I haven't played Horseshoe for about 10 years. Boy has it gone downhill. There are a number of holes they are working on for tee boxes and greens. My suggestion is close nine holes and work on them to bring them up to speed. Then close the other nine and work on them. I have been coming to Horseshoe for over 40 years but have missed the past ten. I have never never seen the course in such sad shape. I thought when the other 18 holes on top when it closed the plan was to sink more money into the valley course. The money never arrived it seems.
The course got a lot of repair and maintenance
Indeed, it’s a good experience playing for the first time. Maybe, the improvement will make it better for the guests to next time.
More money and water will bring it back to its former glory.
Great potential
Course has great potential to be top tier, just lacks the green and fairway conditions to be in that tier, only paid $60 for my round, so this was acceptable for the price.
Poor fairways and greens
The layout was interesting, but the fairways bunkers and greens were in pretty rough condition, but overall it is not an expensive course to play and would be ideally suited for beginners.
