Ok
The course on a whole is great. What I dislike is on the back 9 there isn't enough signage for how to get to hole 10 or hole 12. I drove around the sub division looking for both holes and had to ask other players for direction and was sent the wrong way. I quit playing there 10 years ago for the same reason and it hasn't changed or gotten better.
Nice enough course, but not well managed
The course was nice enough. Pace of play was fine but perhaps could have used a starter to keep tee times in order. Mostly I was disappointed because I paid in advance for 18 and when I checked in was told the front nine was closed for a league. Wouldn’t have paid that price for a twilight nine. Might try again sometime, but not soon.
Challenging course
Thoroughly enjoyed my round. Course offers narrow fairways and significant terrain change on several holes. Greens were consistent throughout the course. Course was surprisingly wide open and we experienced no delays except for when we let a twosome play through on two different occasions. Our threesome still completed our round in 3.5 hours. I’ll definitely be back!
This course was by far in the best condition of any
This course was by far in the best condition of any course in west central Indiana. Given the dry, hot weather over the past couple of months, Idle Creek had lush smooth greens and tee boxes. Fairways had a few brown areas, but were generally very green and exceptionally smooth. Staff was very welcoming and pace of play exceptionally fast. We had two foursomes in front of our twosome but never had to wait for them to clear and finished our round in 3:15.
A great gem that I look forward to playing more often when I’m in western Indiana.
Alright...but
For $60 a round I would expect the fairways would have grass. It's the end of August not September and it was nothing but brown patches with a little green mixed in. Would give it a better rating if the course had grass.
Direction to the back 9 for fist visitors
Required a driver’s license to rent a cart at the pro shop. You will later found out that you are driving through residential area on the way to back 9.
Please head toward Pro-shop after front 9 and go through the tunnel.
Sneaky Difficult
With the changes in elevation and well place water hazards, this track can be a challenge for people playing for the first time. The greens were excellent. Smooth and fast with plenty of break for weekend golfers.
Despite a parking lot that was less than half full, we had to wait on available golf carts, were told they had no range balls and discovers they had not portable coolers for the drinks we purchased. The hotdog bun I was sold could not be eaten. Hard as a rock. Very small changes could have made this a 5 star rating but too many little things were missing.
Great Course
I played Idle Creek a couple of years ago and while enjoyable, was not overly impressed with it. What a difference since the last time I played. Outstanding fairways and fast, but consistent greens. Given the rain and storms in the area for several days prior to my round, I was very impressed that there was no standing water any where on the course. Was surprised at how empty the course was given the outstanding weather. It's definitely on my Play Again list for when I'm back in Terre Haute!
