Nice course, rude staff
Seriously just showed up to Rea Park (by myself) at 2:50p and was told I can't get 18 holes in and was turned away. So many times this year that courses have done this. This one much more than others. You're a mid level city course, no dress code, short yardage and hardly challenging. You're not a country club so get rid of the country club attitude and start being respectful to the members of the community that want to visit your course. Highly disappointed.
When I do get to play there, the course is well kept. The carts sometimes get weak by the last few holes. The gentlemen in the front office are usually rude to most of the guys that play in our group. Staffing attitude is probably what keeps this course from being one that I prefer to play. I'd rather play a course that cost twice as much with staff that treats you with respect.
Gettting much better...
In Oct, 2018 I wrote a review, giving Rea Park 2 stars at best. Alright time to give the golf course and the staff their due— it is tremendously better than last fall!! To be honest I’m amazed and impressed considering the condition it was in less than 9 months ago.
Let’s start though with the new pro shop staff— nice, pleasant & enjoyable to talk to (huge change). Next the course, the greens are great shape (always a little firm, but that’s part of the course) and are NOT lightening fast like most summers!! They are actually playable if you get above the cup. Fairways & rough are as they should be.
All in all pretty good, considering we had an extremely wet spring and now 3 weeks of no rain and high temps.
The back nine last year was a train wreck and it has come back better than I ever expected.
For a city course with not a lot of revenue coming in its a pretty darn nice place!! I would recommend in a heart beat.
Bravo to the staff— job well done!!
Goat Ranch!!
I've played this course about 200 times and I have to say it's absoulutely the worse condition I've ever seen it in!! Pathetic. They should have paid US to play it!! Other courses in the area are in good shape and have great greens-- not the case here, not even close. To make matters worse most the employees are rude and act like they don't want to even be there-- don't blame them, neither did I.
I won't be back anytime soon.
Unfortunately I play in a league there in the spring/summer... hope to God they get their act together before it goes to pasture.
Rea Park
Rea Park is a phenomenal municipal course located on the south side of Terre Haute near shopping and food. The course itself is a very well maintained and possess some challenges around the greens. The course is very wide open, erratic tee shots are salvageable. The greens are very fast but roll true, don't miss long because most greens slant back to front. The staff is very friendly, but no alcohol, and very little food offered. Since this course does not serve alcohol you can bring your own onto the course.
FFF Greens
Had a tough time trying to figure out the greens. Most all are at a angle and are extremely fast. By the end of the round we were thinking there was a FFF around the greens. FFF stands for Freakn (or another term), Force Field. Between the 3 of us playing i dont think we stuck one or rolled one on the greens all day long.
Enjoyed playing it, just could not figure out the greens.
Wish they would have hot dogs or something to buy for lunch.
Great condition
Fairways and greens were in great shape. Greens rolled well, was able to come very close on several long putts.
Solid Course
I play this course often it is a good course. The course is fairly easy however the greens are very fast which can cause for a few 3 and 4 putts that on most courses would be 2 or 3. I really like this course
People everywhere.
This course had people all over. Many were in large, slow groups. This resulted in people jumping to different holes and cutting in front of whoever seemingly constantly. It took us 6 hours to play 18 holes in a threesome.
Golf
Course is decent shape play was a little slow. Behind high school kids walking
Great course
I enjoyed the course and met some very friendly people. I'm not from the area but I felt at home . I'll be going back
SLoooooow
May be the slowest round of golf I've pjayed. Course very straight forward. One dogleg par 5 where the dogleg doesn't play into it. Very unimaginative course. Every hole straight to a very small green. Fairways are in good condition. Greens very firm and fast. Will not be back. Too boring of a course made worse by a snails pace of play.
Nice muni course.
This is a beautifully well kept municipal course. Very flat, no too many twists and turns. Greens are smooth and consistent. Pace of play was odd, front nine 45 minutes, back nine 2 hours and 15 minutes. Granted I was a single and ran into nothing but foursomes.
Rea Park Golf Course
The best cared and maintained public course I have played. Beautiful course
