Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Great opportunity to improve
All in all the course is always fun to play. They are offering discount rates while having some temp greens which is very fair. The course is a great layout and could be a tip course in the area if someone bought it and invested heavily in all aspects of the course. In all honestly it may take the gentrification of the surrounding neighborhood to really bring this course up to the level it could / should be at.
Great Value
Had a great time and besides the 5 temporary greens, which I was made aware of prior to booking, the course was in great shape. My only gripe was the pace of play. Took over 5 hours to play and it was hot. For $40 on Sunday it was a steal.
Terrible experience booking through GolfNow
I played Ridgeview Ranch in Plano Tx yesterday and when we arrived we were told 6 of the greens were under repair. This was no clearly communicated when I booked on GolfNow. I never would have paid $40 to play the course in that condition. You need to do a better job making it abundantly clear the course condition is poor. I have booked tons of rounds with GolfNow but this is the last time. Completely under acceptable to mislead customers like this.
Great Golf Day!
My golf partner and I very much enjoyed our round of golf at Ridgeview Ranch. The course is beautiful and challenging. The weather was perfect and will come again soon! While 4 of the greens are being redone and the temporary greens are not ideal, it just adds to the challenge!!!
should have been posted
ot out to course and was told that there were 5 temporary greens. Did not say anything on Teeoff.com about temporary greens. If I had known I would not have made tee time.
Pro said it was posted on their home page.
Horrible greens and condition
Horrible greens and condition and still full price
The course is currently in shambles
They are currently reconstructing several of the greens, the guy at the pro shop said that it wasn’t as bad as it sounded. It was pretty bad maybe a decent course once the construction is done. This was my first time playing here.
Bad Greens
I was told that the greens were a "little bumpy." From 9 greens were basically sand. Back 9 was somewhat better. They had to place the from 9 pins wherever there were a small patch of green grass. NOW: I love the track and the people behind the desk are great! Love playing here. They should have cut there rates by 30% - 40% due to the quality of the greens.
Conditions
The greens were terrible - if the greens are that bad discount the green fees. Ten greens were just horrible.
What greens?
I have been ppaying this course for years and it is rarely in "good" condition but is generally a fun course to play as it is a very diverse, fun and challenging layout. Today the course was in such poor condition I only played 9. On the very first hole my group decided that it was a 2 putt max day as the greens were the worst I have ever seen. I felt bad for the staff, but they really should tell you their greens are gone and play at your own risk. Someone really needs to buy this place and put some money into it. Even is such horrible condition it still gets a tremendous amount of play. If someone puts some money and time unto it, it could be a great tract.
Avoid at all costs until the greens are fixed!!!!!!
Absolutely the worst greens I have ever seen. This used to be a decent course. I’m not sure what happened but every green seemed to have a disease. There was rarely a putting line with all grass. There were no apologies or heads up of the course conditions. If I had the option of rating the course a zero, I would have!
Fix your greens
The layout was great as was the staff the greens however were completely trash. It is sad to see them in that condition after playing the course in years past.
Good Course with Poor Greens
Overall a pleasant experience. Friendly staff and always enjoy this course. Not too easy or too difficult. Recent range moved practice to mats, which are probably 10+ years old and basically like hitting off concrete. Easy to injure yourself. On the plus side, they have Toptracer available at the range. Most of the course was acceptable, but the greens are close to 30% dirt and very lumpy. Not sure what's up with that since it's been a mild winter. Again, overall enjoyed my round there but won't be back until the greens are fixed and definitely will avoid if recent rain - or get some swings in before heading out there.
THE WORST COURSE EVER
NO GRASS ON THE GREEN .FAIR WAYS STILL GOOD. NEED TO CLOSE FEW MONTHS TO RENOVATE GREEN.
