Stonebridge Ranch Country Club - Dye Course

About
Pete Dye certainly lived up to his reputation for building diabolical courses when he created the Stonebridge CC course. In fact, Dye himself claimed that the course is more challenging than his famed PGA West course in Palm Springs. If you’re looking for a place to blow up your handicap before hitting the easier tracks, Stonebridge is the place.
Dye’s design winds through the large lakes and rolling hills of a 6,700-acre residential complex with many amazing homes. The greens are large and fast, and the fairways are immaculate.
The last three holes are too much for the average golfer. Heading back to the clubhouse, they generally play into the prevailing wind. No. 16 is a par 5 at almost 600 yards. The par 3 No. 17 forces a carry of almost 200 yards, followed up with a 450-yard-plus par 4 that curves around a giant lake. Play this course from the white tees unless you’re a 12 handicap or better.
Perhaps it was the 50-degree temperature and the extremely wet conditions, but rarely have we played a course where length off the tee was at such a premium. Every shot requires precision, and you will never look at an approach shot and think it’s open and easy. Every green seems to be surrounded by danger, forcing the mentality that you must hit the perfect shot--which obviously makes it more difficult to relax and be loose with your game.
Getting there : From I-75 north, turn left on Virginia Parkway and drive about 4 miles to Stonebridge Drive. Turn left and head to Becan Hill Road, then take a right and look for the clubhouse on the left.

Amazing Course
This was the nicest and coolest course I have played. Need to stay in the fairways to be safe but a really beautiful course. They can get into lots of trouble around the green and they were extremely fast.
Absolutely gorgeous
This course is without question my favorite course in The Dallas area (which is saying a lot!). The layout was dynamite and the views were gorgeous. Everyone there was nice and very welcoming to a visiting ClubCorp member. Thank you all and I can’t wait to come back!
Dyeabolical and magnificent.
This Pete Dye course is supposed to be more difficult than his more famous creation known for toughness, the Stadium Course at PGA West, according to Mr. Pete Dye himself.
This wonderful golf layout was created from raw farmland in North Texas forty years ago.
Dye has a reputation for diabolical course design and all his best is on display here. Dye visited Scotland in 1963 and made a thorough study of its classic courses. The Scottish use of pot bunkers, bulkheads constructed of wood, and diminutive greens influenced his subsequent designs. He also initiated island greens and tiny greens on the water's
edge hitting into the wind.
Our experience in the pro shop was stellar. We met with Mr. Tim Keightley, formerly of Dublin, Ireland and the Irish tour. Tim has eyes on the PGA Senior Tour and just missed qualifying for the US Senior Open. It was great visiting with Tim who is also the starter.
Hole #1 is a short par 4 with a 150-yard carry over a field of high native grasses. The next shot is downhill to a tiny elevated green surrounded by deep bunkers.
Long, forced carries, and huge berms located on the perimeter will force good shots into collection areas unless struck perfectly.
Every hole had multiple surprises and challenges.
Tiny greens, elevation changes, pot bunkers, water carries into strong prevailing breezes, and railroad ties are everywhere.
Pristine greens and fairways, and demanding shots on every hole make this an outstanding golf course.
great course
Very challenging and beautiful course. If you have the money to play here it is definitely worth every penny. Playing in the spring/early summer is very difficult and be prepared to lose some balls.
Stonebridge Ranch Country Club Dye Course
Pro: A great course layout in the area. Greens were lighting quick and some holes are challenging even from the back tees. A neat Pete Dye design course.
Con: There are lots of water on the holes so it can be very easy to lose your ball. Although it gets a lot of play the pace of play I was in was slow.
