Sunflower Hills Golf Course

Great value as I payed $17 to walk. Winter conditions but the greens were in good shape. Very friendly staff. Bunkers were mud, little sand. Clubhouse is dated. Also, would be great to see them use combo tee options as the red tees (normally blue) were 600+ yards further than the white. Open off the tee and a nice mixture of par 3s and doglegs on the 4s and 5s. Would give this 3.5 stars if the rating was available. A good course for the higher handicap playing the correct tees. Will come back for the price as again, you can't beat the value!

I have been playing Sunflower Hills for 30+ years. The fairways and greens are in fantastic shape.

Over the last year the course has been upgrading the collars around the greens and this winter they are going to rebuild most of their bunkers.

This is a course that in the past has catered to big hitters but they are now constructing new forward tees for juniors, seniors and women.

Staff has been there forever and are very accommodating.

This was my first time at Sunflower. I felt a little rushed as I opted to walk. It was a long course and it was extremely enjoyable, beautiful and challenging for a novice.

Highschoolers take over course in the afternoon, work about 6hrs if you get behind them. They don't let anyone play through.

Due to the dry weather conditions the course has held help pretty well, greens are not fast but ok. Fairways are dry and brown because of the sosa grass, some so dry and powdery like nothing holds the ball and will roll all the way back down the hill in.

I took tuesday off to play it was slower than I I like like the rd took too long for the day of week.

Since the restrooms are closed for the winter they need to put some portable restrooms on the course.

I don't know how they do it but the course, conditions, and staff remain loyal to a great golf experience at a good value. The pace of play can be a problem as the good value attracts lots of golfers. I say drop another ball, play two shots, take your time and enjoy Sunflower Hills.

The price for the golf was great! $19.50 for a 12:51 tee time. It was a holiday week and I had visitors in from out of town. We booked three for our tee time and had a guest to ride along. A fourth was also booked apparently. (Someone we didn't know). At check in they charged us $14.00 for our guest to ride along. They said it's in the fine print. As long as I've been playing I 've never been at a course that has made singles share a cart with someone they don't know. Not sure why Sunflower works with Golf Now, they clearly don't respect the business it brings them.

I would definately recomend this course to anyone.

Our first experience at Sunflower was a good one. Extremely challenging course but fair. Intend to play again next week.

the maintenance is OK they need to take of the areas around the greens .(no grass)

First time playing Sunflower. Greens are challanging and fast, the course is long. couple of fun par 5's. Got this on a 'Hot Deal' it turned out to be a great deal!

I thought it was a challenging course that requires your best course management skills. Several elevated greens that you must club-up on your approach. There are a couple of holes that you must hit over water and there is a nice long par 3. Overall good experience and a good value.

Sunflower Hills is one of the best public courses I have played. There are lots of trees flanking the course which were just turning fall colors. The greens were soft so the balls would stick nicely. The only criticism would be most of the holes are straight which reduces the challenge.

This course is very well run. The course was in good shape dispite the terrible drought this summer. It is a real credit to them that the greens were in great shape. The staff is excellent. One of the best public courses in KC. A great bargain.

Course is in great shape. Greens are well maintained. Only complaint is consistency with the rough, but what Muny course doesn't have this problem. Overall a great course to play. Some of the staff are a little stuck up but can't let that ruin a good course!
