Pleasant Surprise
We have played the course many times but were surprised by how well it was maintained. The greens and fairways were in great shape, the staff was friendly and we were done with 9 holes in just under 2 hours
Thank you Norwood
Great Day at Norwood Country Club
Had a very enjoyable round at Norwood Country Club on Saturday. Overall, it was a good day of golf with good course conditions and very puttable greens.
One thing I really appreciate about Norwood is the variety of available tee times. Sometimes golf is a last-minute decision, and having options available makes it easy to get out and play.
I know some people give Norwood a bad rap, but I don’t agree. I found the starter to be pleasant and attentive, and the course itself is challenging and a great test of your game — definitely good for an ego boost!
There were a few dry spots, but honestly, that’s pretty typical at almost any course.
Overall, a very enjoyable day of golf. I’ll definitely be back.
Improved
Course seems to be much improved since being rated as one of the 5 worst public courses in the country.
I think they can put that reputation behind them now.
It's nice to see effort being put into maintaining it and improving the experience.
Busy course
Very busy course, played on Tuesday, tee time delayed for 20mins. The whole play was 2 hours behind. This is not a big deal to us. Staffs are very nice and professional. Couple of rude players passed us with no notification, staff saw it and got into the issue right away. Those players filed a complaint on us said we were slow, but the truth is we were slow because all groups in front of us were slow, we had no choice but wait, you can’t just hit people with you ball.
Another Fell Good Course
If you’re looking to walk a course, this is it. Flat all round, not one hill to climb. I played the gold tees which is the longest, just less than 5,700 yards , so overall on the short side. Just be careful cause when the box is set way back the tees kind of fall off so you fell like you’re hitting driver on an up hill lie. Greens were in good condition but slow and if you read a break it doesn’t happen. A couple of doglegs don’t let you hit driver but fun nonetheless. The airport is right next to the course so I hope you don’t mind low (and mean really low) planes going overhead. Overall a good value for what I paid.
Underrated
Norwood gets a bad rap. Walkable. Affordable. Played in just over 4 hours on the weekend. Greens are fine. Fairways and tee boxes are not perfect but whatever. 2nd hole is a little gimmicky. Wet conditions used to be an issue. It is much better now. Rained a lot this week and the course was dry.
Same old Norwood
Course is in the usual shape for late July (slightly blow average), the price for my riding 9 on a Tue at 11AM is a bit overpriced at $48, and the bartender/pro shop attendant, ranger, and club pro are friendly enough. If they hadn't fixed the drainage (it WAS a literal swamp until the town built the course and adjacent airport many years ago), I wouldn't recommend NCC, but now I do.
Norwood country club is a perfect course to hone one’s golf skills.. There is very little water, the rough is not so rough, there is very little where it’s difficult to find your ball and the greens are in great shape. I plan to return many times before the season ends for me.
Better than expected
Norwood Country Club is more a public course than a country club environment but the staff is friendly, the driving range is a plus when many courses in Massachusetts and Rhode Island don't have ranges, tee times readily available (use GolfNow for discounts), and the course layout is good for beginners to intermediate level players. Overall the course was in fair shape. Greens consistent with a couple greens that need attention. Tee boxes better than some high rated courses. Fairways were fair with some areas of concern. They do seem to cater to the youth golfer and that is awesome (saw youth golf camps going on and playing. Overall I enjoyed my 18 hole round.
Pace of Play
Everything here is always good/great. Cost is higher than it should be but they have an awesome junior program to teach kids so it's okay - that money has to come from somewhere. The only knock is their ranger coming out to us implying we're playing slow and needing to speed up - which was rude and not at all the case. Aside from that it was fine - this course is always a great option in my experience.
Slow but fun
NCC was in pretty good shape. Typically it's a bit swampy but this day it wasn't. Greens were decent but far from perfect. Fairways were better than usual. Pace of play not good ... over 3 hours for 9 holes.
