Has that old course European seaside feel
This course has it's challenges. It's well worth the price. It reminded me of some of the courses around the British Isle's. Depending on the days, expect back ups, and ALWAYS expect to be paired up if you are in a two-some or solo..
What’s with card only?
I’m getting sick and tired of we only accept card only. I had already paid for the round online, but when we showed up, I wanted to get a small bucket of balls to warm up. I was going to pay cash, but they said they only accept card payment.
At the turn we stopped in to get some dogs, again card only. Then we were told you have to get the dogs yourself. Absolutely 0 costumer service.
The course is in good shape. Fairways are nicely groomed and the greens are in good shape. You had better be good at reading greens here, they have a lot of breaks, but roll true. Pace of play is spot on. They don’t seem to overbook the place.
Overall it was a nice round.
Great public course
Really good condition for a public course. Fun layout. Slow play was the only complaint.
Blackheath 20260722
They need to add a couple of minutes between tee times it was slow crowded and league play was coming.
Excellent Value
Superb price for a very fair round of golf. Played blue tees and they played challenging yet “scoreable” when you put two decent shots together. Highly recommend the early morning weekday time as the rate is fantastic for what you get.
Blackheath Saturday Round
Course is great, and the cost is fair. Pace of play was brutal. 6.5 hours to play 18. First 3 holes took 1 hr 20 minutes.
Top Notch Value. Unique Links style course.
Played here with 4 total people. Course was in very very good conditions. Unique Links style course which isn't super common in Michigan. Twilight was around 34 for 18 w/ cart which for the conditions is fantastic. Will return.
Bring a deck of cards
Great course but whoa, be prepared to wait on every shot on the front nine. There were 2-3 groups waiting on every single hole. Took us over 5 hours to finish our round. It was a Saturday. GO ON A WEEK DAY! Also, not a bad idea to bring a helmet. We were almost decapitated by about half a dozen wayward “golf shots”. This was definitely a wild West golfing experience.
Not Sure Why I Expect Anything Different…
Played the back 9 today and finished in just under three hours. Tee’d off on 10 to a twosome on the green. They finished before we got to our ball. Finished the hole in 9 minutes. Did not tee off on hole 11 for another 27 minutes. There were two groups in front of me waiting to tee off, by the time my group finished.
I understand trying to maximize revenue with as many tee times as you can. This does not need to be explained. I simply encourage the rangers to monitor the first two tee boxes for each 9, rather than just one. This seems to happen every single time I play this course, no matter if it’s the front or back, or the day of the week. I hope everyone who has a similar experience leaves a review too, and maybe ownership will take the hint. This has been happening for four seasons now. It is despicable that they continue operating like this & wasting people’s time and money.
Keeps getting better
Unlike some other more known courses in the area where with the golf boom have upped prices and lowered the quality of the course conditions, Blackheath is in better shape now than years ago. The greens fees are reasaonable for the conditions the course is in.
Great value and course
Wide open layout. Nice greens but could be rolled. Very quiet and no backups. Love to play here but is a bit of a hike.
