Great course
Course played great. They had an outing in the morning that ran over so tee time was delayed 30 minutes. Not the best planning. Front 9 was slow. No one on the back 9 which went faster. Started on 10, doesn’t feel right ending 18 holes on the 9th. Will play again.
5 1/2 HOURS IN 92 DEGREE HEAT
One of the worst things that can happen is showing up to the course, hitting a bag of range balls, then some practice putts - and ready to go - only to find out there is a 1/2 hour delay because of a golf outing that started late. And it got worse from there. Had to follow the outing for 6 holes - which took 2:10. Then it was wide open due to the shotgun start. Played the last 12 holes in about 2:30. So, dealy+range balls+slow play followed by a rapid pace and you are in 92 degree weather for about 51/2 hours between 11:30 and 5:05 pm, Not good when you are turning 70 in 4 months. Not much the staff could do about it. The outing was oblivious to how far behind schedule they put everyone else.
Great track!
Greystone GC was in terrific condition for our visit this week (early August '25).
Friendly service from the cart attendant to the pro shop and the bar as well.
I appreciate that they have moved to 10 min tee times. The starter noted that and I noticed the pace was perfect. Other venues could learn from this (quality vs quantity).
The course was in terrific shape. That's not always the easiest task with our wild spring and summer this year! The greens were magnificent, although the back 9 was MUCH faster than the front. We learned the hard way!
Excellent value overall. We play here 2-3 times a year but I'd like to double that and visit more often in the summer after seeing how great of shape Greystone was in.
First time back in 4 years
Course is in pretty good shape considering the weather (very hot no rain to a period of a lot of rain) Greens are also in very good shape, but were running a little slower than the practice green which took a few holes to adjust to. Pace of play was great for first 13 holes - then caught up to a group of 4 that was actually waiting to tee off on #14 until the group ahead of them got off the green. Took about 1:45 to play the last 5 holes and total round of 4:25. Will be back more often. Guys in the pro shop and starter did an excellent job of keeping everyone on time - even with one group showing up 2 minutes before their tee time.
Switched them with the group behind them without missing a beat. Have the usual idiots that seemingly have no idea what a divot tool is used for. Tried to fix at least 4 ball marks while the rest of my group was putting out. I kind of enjoy doing that - taking pride in trying for those perfect repairs. Like that they are using a green sand/seed mixture on the greens to keep them looking good. Have not seen that done elsewhere. Minimal impact, if any, on the ball. better than a scarred green with who knows in what direction it will affect the ball.
