Stony Creek Golf Course

About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

A must play.
Very fair course with consistency of fairways and greens in terrific condition. Couple of tee boxes need repair .
A yearly favorite as I use all the clubs in my bag.
Lots of wildlife
We saw a turkey deer sandhill cranes and a heron. The tee boxes on 4 and 17 need help. Otherwise we found the course to be in great shape and green fees a bargain price for seniors $37. The clubhouse should be replaced very old and outdated not like the other metroparks who all have new clubhouses.
Worst shape I’ve seen this place!
Play this course once or twice a year and it has always been decent. This year it was terrible. Many tee boxes were all dirt. Many fairways burnt out and same for the greens. Luckily used my points and the round only costed 28$! Won’t go back this season. Hope it’s better next year
Delay
Former players showed up late. They showed up at our time. I said we go first, but the ranger sent them first. Since late departure our play delayed all round long.
Greens condition
Some of the greens could use a bit of repair. Having bare spots.
Beautiful Metropark Course
Stoney Creek Metropark Golf Course is a great deal for the amenities. They have a driving range, practice putting green and a beautiful setting. The value you get for similarly priced public courses is amazing. My only issue is that the white tee boxes on the front nine need some work. Probably need to move them around some to allow for grass regrowth and leveling. The back nine was much better though! Fairways were in great shape and we loved that the rough was so thick surrounding the fairways and greens (good challenge)!
Our local favorite
This course is our favorite to play. We reside in Rochester Hills so it is only a short distance. The wildlife and scenery is stunning, we never feel rushed, the staff is wonderful, and greens are nice.
Favorite course to walk
Booked the first tee time of the day so the pace was great. Finished 18 in around 3.5 hours.
The tee boxes were in terrible shape and appeared to not have been moved in weeks.
The greens were extremely slow, even after they dried out later in the morning.
The rest of the course was in great shape minus a couple holes that were under construction where drains were being added.
