slow play
Packed in to make foursomes certainly slowed down play. Would have been resolved by also starting golfers on the back nine. Some skipped over to the back nine...

Benson Park Golf
Very friendly staff at check in and snack bar. Pace of play was very good. Course condition was pretty good. Played for $36, excellent value
This is a such a nice course and a good location. I’ve played it four times and never completed it in under 5 hours. Unfortunately a few groups always ruin it for everyone else. I have never complained about pace of play, but this was the one time I had to. Wish they had marshals keeping an eye on stuff, but it’s just a city course I guess. The course itself is amazing and one of my favorites in the area, I just always leave with a bad taste in my mouth after averaging 5.5 hour rounds.

Top 2 city owned courses, great conditions at a great price. I play here often!
Great course
The course is in great condition, especially the greens. However, it was cart path only and there were no marshalls on the course to regulate pace. Additionally, a par 5 was converted to par 3, with no discount or explanation which was disappointing. Overall, good course! I would definitely play here again but they need to have a marshall!

Great course to play in the fall. Was in great shape.
Excellent city golf course
First time playing Benson this year. The course was in amazing condition. The greens fast as always. The rough was extremely thick and long so missing the fairway made things very challenging. I always enjoy playing this course.
Pleasant city-muni golf
Municipal golf is improving across the country. Gone are the days when it was expected that the local muni would be a poorly-kept cheapo goat-track with gruff staff and rougher golfers. More and more, cities and counties are realizing that their golf courses are a draw for residents. Benson Park is a prime example of this dynamic. With flawless conditioning, a serviceable design on hilly terrain, nice people and surprisingly low green fees, it's the type of place I have long wished existed in more places. That seems to be happening at last, and golfers are going. to continue to benefit.
